Our Own FBBO "Power Tour" Mopar Car Tour

I will be embarking on a small, long weekend classic car tour. Join us for all or part of the trip if you like!
General Themes/ Plans/ Rules:
  • Any person my join for the whole tour or any part of it, as you choose. If you can only join for a day, that's fine! But please PM me so I know to expect you.
  • Overall, plans are for about 4 hours of driving per day with the rest of the day to relax and enjoy some sights/ dinner
  • The destination will be provided to all, so we can drive together or separately as individuals prefer. Only exception will be Saturday morning, as I will leave early to get my car on the dyno as soon as possible.
  • I have generally chosen cheaper hotels where I feel we can safely park the cars together - I just need a clean bed and a shower. Feel free to find other accommodations if you prefer.
  • I am not a formal tour operator, and anyone joining us does this trip at their own risk. There is no charge to join this tour - it is just a bunch of friends getting together for a drive.
  • Everyone pays for themselves and makes all reservations themselves.
  • We will, of course, try to help any member with car issues if we can, but there will be no sag wagon or formal support vehicle.
  • Your tour vehicle: It really should be something cool and different. Any classic car is fine (Mopar, of course, preferred), as are modern muscle cars and anything else "cool".
  • If you are really interested in going, but cannot bring a car, send me a note. We MAY (no promises here) be able to arrange a "ride along". This is just an initial thought, so I don't know how possible this really is once we factor in logistics. But we don't know unless we try. The expectation for any passenger would be to share in fuel costs, for example.

Dates are Thursday 29 May 2025 (meet up date) to Monday 02 June 2025.

Day 0: Meetup day - Thursday 29 May 2025
Address: 2790 County Route 16, Watkins Glen, NY 14891
(Time to meet up to drive the track) 4-4:30 PM (track drive is at 5, so I suggest closer to 4).
We will meet in Watkins Glen Racetrack on a Thursday. Watkins Glen does have some ability to drive the track, so I will be looking into driving our cars around the track for those that can get there early enough (no promises until I start getting an idea of how many will join us plus figure out cost to do this). We will stay in the Corning/ Painted Post area for the night.

Dinner: Will be determined that evening based on member preferences
Hotel Where I am Staying: Corning Inn. 255 S Hamilton St, Painted Post, NY 14870

Day 1: Drive to Packard - Friday 30 May 2025
After breakfast, we will drive from our hotel to the Packard Museum in Warren, Ohio. On this day, we will check out the Packard Museum in the afternoon: Target arrival time is 1PM. After our museum tour we will have dinner nearby (place to be determined). We will then drive about 40 minutes to Kent, OH to stay for the night.

Dinner: Will be determined later, likely that evening based on member preferences
Hotel Where I am Staying: Days Inn, 4422 Edson Rd, Kent, OH 44240

Day 2: Dyno Thrash! - Saturday 31 May 2025
On this day, we will drive to member @Nxcoupe place in Red Lion, Ohio. Address will be provided privately to members who choose to join us. Target arrival time will be Noon. I will leave extra early and the goal will be to thrash my car on the dyno and see if we can tune a few more HP into it. No BS horsepower claims will be possible for me here! Tour members will be part of the audience and may also have the ability to put their cars on the dyno for a fee (time permitting - there will be limited slots available. Please let me know in advance if you are interested in putting your car on the dyno).

Dinner: Will be determined later, likely that evening based on member preferences
Hotel Where I am Staying: Super 8, at Exit, 3553 Commerce Drive, 32 OH-122 I-75, Middletown, OH 45005

Day 3: Some Architecture - Sunday 01 June 2025
We will tour to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater cabin house in Mill Run, PA, after again, about a 4 hour drive. Target arrival time is 1PM. There is also a nice overlook called Paradise Overlook that we may have time to check out.

Dinner: Will be determined later, likely that evening based on member preferences
Hotel: I am looking at reserving a bed and breakfast where we can sit by a fire or on a nice porch enjoying the scenery of the area. However, I need to know how many people might be interested in doing this. Cost will likely be $130 - $150 for the night, but I may be able to bring this down if we can book an entire place. One possibility is a place called Paddler’s Lane that also offers camping with bathroom and shower facilities for those that like to rough it a bit. Another is a place called The Hannah House where we can perhaps book the entire place. Please send me a PM by Thursday, 24 April if you are interested in booking a bed and breakfast. If not enough people are interested then we will simply book a hotel nearby Fallingwater

Day 4: More cars! - Monday 02 June 2025
We will drive East and end our tour in Morgantown, PA at a place called the Classic Auto Mall. This is a converted shopping mall where the entire facility is set up for displaying classic cars for sale as well as storing them for customers. We will tour the classic auto mall, have dinner locally and close the tour after dinner.

Please respond below and/or send me a PM as soon as possible so I can start getting a confirmed count of people/cars on the tour. Thanks

Do you have your approx route determined? Sounds like a lot of highway driving rather than a cruise.

In all my drives across country I have typically kept to smaller, scenic roads and they are WAY more enjoyable.

Short answer to your question but my intent is to find smaller, scenic roads as much as possible, but I have not yet had time to map out the route.

WOW, that sounds like quite a party. I would need some disc brakes and something other than a single reservoir master cylinder for that cruise.

Note that I edited Post #1. There is a 5PM time slot to drive the track, so I assume we need to be there early enough to get paperwork done. Reservations are needed, and I will plan to make those in a week or two once we know how many will drive the track.

I will meet you at WGI !!
Awesome! I will send you a PM in a few days to connect.

If my cars ready then, I'll be meeting at Warren

Hope to see you - keep us posted!

Millions of people trekked across the US with single pot masters and drum brakes before 67 lol

They did. I have stomped on the pedal on my 66 and locked up all 4. They work great until they don't. Oh well, you gotta go sometime.

I have raced at WGI at least a dozen times, probably closer to 16 or 18 times. It is my home track.
Awesome - let me know if I get any details wrong about it as we go along. I have been there, but never racing or driving on the track.
