I've owned maybe 20 sets of headers over the years. Many of them are an exercise in frustration to install. Last year, I purchased Hedman Headers through a speed shop for my 1969 440 Roadrunner. I was asked all the right question about the vehicle's equipment, and I gave all accurate answers in response. The set of headers from Hedman were "Made for your car".

Fit, was a disgrace. Whackin' and bashin', removing the starter, zbolt, undoing motor mounts, raising engine and maybe moving five other things along the way, add some cutting and grinding and in about 8 hours, finally mangled them enough that they could be bolted in. The amount of bashing required for these to fit quite honestly makes me question Hedman's claims that those headers fit ANY Roadrunner.

Move ahead to this weekend.

I rebuilt the motor this winter and I just couldn't put these pieces of crap back in. Last Thursday night my new TTI headers arrived. Saturday morning start installing. Maybe 2-3 hours. No bashing, no hacking, no cutting or grinding. Perfect fit. These headers are 50% more expensive and worth every single penny. The fit, the quality of the header is LEAPS and BOUNDS ahead of Hedman, and Hedman's been building these thing for more than 60 years.

I've never had a better set (both quality and fit wise), than these TTI headers. And since I'm the first guy to bitch and complain about false claims, bad quality and crap product, I thought I'd wave the flag for TTI. If you're on the market, pay the extra... and do it with a smile. It's worth it, from my perspective anyway. ;)

I bought hedman headers back in the 80s for the 440 in my 69 Coronet. Took three sets to get one i could barely bolt up. I will never even look at those again.

Yes, I have Hedmans on this car. They came with it and since they're in very good shape, I've kept them through 3 engine swaps and such.
Having said that, I think much the same as others. They're awful for not only fitment but for spark plug access and such as well. I won't ever pay for a set of them.
In fact, they should come provided with an 8 pound sledgehammer in the box.

Some people have had good luck with their fitment but I'll bet that they are a tiny minority.
Overall, they are a **** design. What the hell, man? How damn hard is it to see your stuff sucks *** and make a few corrections? Seriously...I work in construction and when we do production framing, we learn and adapt. The first building reveals what we did right and where we need improvement. We learn and do better next time.
Companies like Hedman and Hooker must have developed their patterns years ago and then just called it quits on R & D. Poor decision! I had a 74 Duster with a 360 and a 4 speed and after installing and removing the drivers side something like 15 to 294 times to make clearance dents, I cut them up with a sawzall and bought TTIs.
THIS was before I heard of "Doug's Headers". I hear that they have the same great fitment as TTI but at about 2/3 the price.

who did you order the TTIs through up here?

How are they for sparkplug access. I've used Hooker for 30+ years and the only issue is spark plug access and wire burning issues. .

National Moparts.

There is plenty of clearance for plug wires. Straight boots on the plugs clear all issues. I'm using a combination of straight and angled.

I have 2" TTIs in my Charger with a 440/493. The spark plug clearance is decent. The pipes clear everything. I've had them since 2006. No rusting, no warping.

I bought my headers from MP almost 20 years ago. No hammering required but did have to drill a mounting hole. Wire fitment is tolerable. Fitting the full size starter was the biggest pain. But once all together they don't look bad. Who manufacturers them have know idea.

Yeah...it's not like we're stuffing weird engines into places the factory never intended...B-bods been carrying LA/B/RB engines since day one, I wish they'd figure it out already.(although I finally kicked for a set of tti's myself this past year, finally..)

Another vote for TTi.Installed at least 2 dozen sets over the years. I will say that I did have a problem with TTi Hemi headers, BUT it was "my" fault . Ordered a set for a stock 65 K and Schumacher mounts.I changed my mind and with a Kramer Hemi K thinking "Aw,they will be the same"... Nope. Again it was totally my fault. Called TTi and told them what a dumb a$$ I was. No problem, sent me another set. All I had to do was send the others back. They really make a great product.

I have the Doug's 2", they are not in the car yet but I did mock them up to the heads and plug clearance looked good. I think Hyrdogoon runs the Doug's as well and said they fit very nicely on his Bird...

Doug's were on my list... in the end simplicity of ordering took over (I just happened to already be on the phone with National!)

for out of the box/off the shelf good fit
TTI
Schumacher Creative Services {especially tri-y's}
Doug's

all fit really well

smaller tubes like 1-3/4" & 1-7/8" fit easier too
the use of a small Dakota or Magnum engine style "mini starter"
makes for even more clearances

most "street cars" don't/won't need 2" headers
or the bigger 3.5" {or larger} collectors either
even many strokers that are actually race combos,
don't need them USUALLY

my $0.02 cents carry on,
keep the ball peen hammers away from my headers please

Heddmans & Hookers
IMO have gone down in quality big time the past 20+ years

the shorty style Heddmans IIRC use to fit easily,
even with power-steering & angle plug heads
small tube 1-3/4" & 2.5" collectors for B/RB B-bodies
for the "mostly stock combos" with bolt ons

Another opinion to add to the mix. I sold my TTIs because of poor plug clearance and I got tired of replacing burned silicone boots, even after "clearancing" a few of the tubes. I tried 'socks', MSD boots, Moroso boots, Taylor boots, Accel ceramic boots (90s, 45s and straights, none cleared. They either hit the tubes or hit the shock towers). Granted, these were an older set and still in great condition due to their 3/8" flanges and 14 or 16 gauge construction. I purchased a set of Doug's ceramic coated headers and they fit like a glove with much better plug clearance. BTW, it's been over 4,000 miles and no burned boots! I highly recommend them. Although it wasn't a consideration for me (fit and clearance to plugs were most important to me), the lesser price might be for some...

I have the Dougs 452's in my Coronet. Bought the set unpainted and then had them powder coated locally. Probably wound up costing the same as a set of TTI's but I have the color and texture I want (matte black).
They fit great, no bashing required. If I ever have to replace the mini-starter, that's a different story.

Wasn't an issue on my 440. Plugs clearance is pretty good (I am using a combination of 90° and 45° boots).

Ive had Hedmans on my Fury for about 15 years. They were a bitch until I removed the exhaust studs on the drivers side. Also had to use a mini starter. They also worked with the Edelbrock angle plug heads. No burnt wires. Did have to dimple at the drivers torsion bar. The real trouble came when I put on the Borgeson steering box. Had to beat the crap out of the center tubes to get it to fit. I actually lost header room with that box.
