I need some help buying the right heads for my 440 i iam looking at the edelbrock rpm heads but not sure what cc heads to get 75 84 or 88 . so here is the info on everything.. 69 road runner 440 auto 2500 stall 355 gears , the 440 is newly rebuilt it has a 9.71 comp ratio with kb silverlite pistons, running 906 heads which are 88cc my cam is a comp cam xe 275hl 275/525 231 237 @50 106 center line 110 lobe sep. running a dual plane intake with a 750 carb an headers . ive read a lot of info on heads an one says you have to drop a full point when going from cast to alum..an then youll find others who say differently , so not sure what to buy but i want more hp out of it !!! so please help

I believe lower cc's are more compression, it all depends on what pistons you are running as well.

Stealth heads are a good set of heads and will save you some money, unless of course your heart is set on eddie's

I have 2 cars with a 451 in each one. First one is a 65 Belvedere, Eddy heads, 280 duration, .480 lift cam, Both are auto trans with Holley Street Dominator intake, 780 Holley carb, The 65 has 4.30 gears, and 9.5 to 1 C/R. Runs 13.72 @ 100 MPH in the quarter mile. The second one is a 69 Road Runner with 3.91 gears, 509 cam (292 [email protected] lift). Ported 915 heads with 2.14/1.81 valves. Same as the Eddys. 13 to 1 C/R. Auto trans. Runs 12.42@ 110 MPH. So its 1.3 seconds quicker with iron heads. Biggest difference is the C/R. Of course the 65 will run on pump gas. The RR needs a hi octane blend of race fuel and premium. A good flowing head is important, but the C/R makes a big difference too. I would go with the Stealths or the Eddy 75 CC head. Also run .035" of quench. Thats what the RR has.

Tight quench is important in my book. Even more so when running hi compression ratios. The Eddy heads with 75 or 84 CC chambers will get you good quench if your pistons come up even with the deck. Then use a .040 head gasket.

thanks for the help . i think iam going to pop off one head a see what the deck height is an do a comp.. test to see what my cyl.. pressure is , i was taliking to a engine builder an he told my if the pressure is 160 or higher go with the 84cc if it is lower buy the 75cc , so ill have to check an see
