Help with a 68 Charger

At 12k, I'd rather pay 25k and get one less far gone. I'll post an update here soon as I see it in person.

the problem there is....... the car for 25K may be "less far gone", but it will need all of the exact same work

after seeing everything available......gimme a vin, a pair of door openings, and some decent frame rails; I'll AMD the rest

the average semi rusty 68-70 B Body will require 500 hours at a minimum and up to 1000 hours of body labor....... there is no getting around it
When I first read this post eldubb, I thought bullshit until I did the math. At a conservative 40 hour week, 1000 hours is roughly 6 months. Looking more closely at this car, probably closer to 8 months if you take your time and do it right. Lots of work there. The floor pans don't look too bad from what what was posted which is a plus but the @ss end it out of control. I don't think I have ever seen one rust there like that. What does the trunk pan look like?

I did a RR for a member here..... trunk, 1/4s, outer wheelhouses, dutchman, door jambs, door skins....... his roof, fenders, hood, and deck lid were pretty nice but needed a little love...... I was in it about 800 honest hours after paint, no disassembly/reassembly......I'm into a bee right now about 1100 hours, but the fenders were junk and it needed a roof....... the struggle is real

All the more reason why I jumped at the deals I have gotten on my cars overs the years & do not sell them. All my Ford & GM buddies rag on me that I don't need 5 cars but no way in hell I could afford to try to go out & buy one these days, either a project car or finished car. I have never been into it for the money. I am in it for the love of these old muscle cars. These crazy stupid prices on cars & especially parts has gotten ridiculous & why we are losing the next generation.
Even with me giving two of my cars to my two Son's to get them in the hobbie & to share quality time with the restoring these cars, they have little interest when looking at the parts & what it costs for the items they need. So, for now the cars sit & I continue to help them find & help pay for the parts we need.

^^ agree with you 100%. Never sell. My concern is they get so expensive they all get restored and/or garaged and never driven. A lot of these mopars are out of reach compared to some of the fords and GMs. I almost feel like I have to get in it before it's too late.

And just a quick update: I saw the car in person, it was as advertised. However he would not budge on price so I walked. Well see if he calls back. I'm evaluating other options. Feel free to post some finds if you come across any! I'm really looking to get into a 68.

Texas cars DO rust....The ones near the gulf coast will get rusty sooner.
