I've had an ongoing problem with my 69 440 GTX quitting or having the lights dim and radio crackles when I hit the brakes or turn on my signal lights. This is an intermittent problem so is hard to trace.

I recently believed that the problem had been solved by cleaning the grounds to the block and firewall. But it returned. It happens mostly at night when I have the lights on. I disconnected the harness that leads to the steering column but that did not solve the problem. Although I had no brake lights, when I applied them, the dash lights dimmed for a split second.

Tonight there was an additional twist. I blew the horn and the lights dimmed instead of the horn sounding. :sad5:

What the **** is going on??????????????????????? :sad2:

Sounds like your turn signal switch assembly is deteriorating. I had this happen about 10 years ago on my '70 GTX, and it caused brake light/turn signal ad other intermittent faults. The power to your rear end lighting all goes through this switch.
Remove the steering wheel and have a good look at the switch assembly. Check the lights and horn etc while wiggling the switch.

There is one here on Amazon via Atlas Obsolete Chrysler Parts. ;
