Hi, not sure if I will be here "forever" or finally give up on dream .....

Welcome aboard from NJ. Never stop dreaming! For the amount of money a new toy would cost, having it restored could be less, depending on condition and how far you want to take it. Also, remember that insurance for these old gems is a lot less than a new car! What ever your decision, best of luck!

Welcome from NY.
Keep us posted on the car.
Still looking for pictures...

Welcome from another GTX guy (test drove a new '69 back in the day, and have never been the same) from Pennsylvania. Tried the late model thing, and it didn't work for me. Karma - my old '68 from the 80s came back to me. Your story is too good not to get that unicorn back on the road.

Not sure of etiquette here on 4BBonly but I guess I can't hijack a thread I started.

68BabyBlue, does she still bring a smile to your face when you go for a ride?

I loved the the time I did drive the GTX. Not sure if the love would still be there. I have freeway flyer rear end, something like a 3.54:1 if I remember correctly. 1st gear was good for about 10mph per 1000 rpm. She has tons of potential but is about a 13 second machine with the low rear end. I think I would be deflated to rumble up to a light and watch some tiny little car pull away.

When I drove the car, I barely had money for gas. I did put down a deposit on a set of gears at Hot Rod Paradise (possibly the origin of Summit Racing?) but they never came in and I got my deposit back.

I'm getting more and excited about the thought of waking up the GTX, just not sure.

I've made a few mistakes in my life and I'm going to share one. 20 years ago I started a car with my son. We worked on it for years, changing one thing after another. When he passed away I stopped and so did our dream. It was the last car I ever touched. Two years ago I sold it and my wife bought me my coronet. I have and never will be the same since I sold it. Things that have been with us that long are there for a reason, don't do what I did, you'll regret it. I told you, we all have a story.

hmmmm .... YY1 I didn't think this was the correct forum, but ok

1969 GTX Hemi 4 speed. 12,000 miles, been in storage literally 50 years. Bought 52 years ago from Plymouth dealer on Chagrin Blvd in Beachwood.

Went away to school, tried to sell her in the early 70's, obviously kept her. Try to sell just the motor to put something economical in while in school, fortunately no takers. Almost traded motor for a Triumph but I wanted a Bonneville and person had a single carb (Cub or Tiger??? ) and would not add $75 to the trade.

I always planned on getting the GTX home and pampering her. Life, marriage, children, job etc etc always seemed to get in the way. Now long since retired and want to finally "fish or cut bait"

If I got rid of the GTX a Demon, ZR1 or shudder a Tesla would be a fun toy to enjoy with little maintenance required but also no memories either.

Let me see if I get this right, GTX 1969; 50 years storage, numbers matching car, 12000 original miles, Hemi 4 speed and you want to trade it for a tesla??? , do you know how many guys Drool for a car like that in any condition, are you crazy for trying to sell that car, what's wrong with you:lol:

Hemi technology has changed.... You want quicker acceleration, add cubic inches... Looks stock, sounds close to stock, leaves normal cars in the rear view....

You've mentioned it's a low mile car, maybe you've mentioned it, I didn't see it... What kind of shape is it in? Stored for 50+ years it could easily be a creampuff but it could just as easily be in need of lots of rust repair & every piece of trim could be crusty from being stored in damp conditions...

Oh, BTW Welcome to your new home away from home...

What a great story always amazes me that they are still out there. I am about your same age and am here in the Cleveland area. We have a great network on this site and in the Northeast Ohio area if you need any help or advise let us know. We would all love to see you get your car back running.

Great site, thank you for the many responses.

Sorry, no pictures right now, in fact I have not seen the GTX in about 5 years. I will be getting some in the next couple of months. Comforting to know I still have the GTX, but I have not done anything with it.

Car has been in inside storage since it last ran, almost 50 years ago. No rust, ever, but is far from perfect. Riding lawnmower dented drivers door many years ago. Some bezels are pitted and need new or restored. Bumper is dented from the last time I drove it and got hit in the rear. Clutch pedal went to the floor. She needs help but not a lot. Wheels long since flat and sitting on those chrome rims etc etc.

Welcome aboard Sir, from the middle of the mitten!

The big question is, do ya really want a me to car? Or do want a damn I wish I had that car.

I smile every time I turn the key. Once a year, the guy I bought her from back in 1983 does the same when I drive her to the Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle. Yes, the rice rockets can out run her, but I love her even more now than back in the day. I think you'll feel the same.
