FWIW, I use the 6-Quart Hemi reproduction oil pan on my drivers, and the Milodon 7-Quart on the Charger that gets drag raced. Never had any oiling problems.
If a High volume pump empties the oil pan to where it looses pressure, the problem is not the pump. Either the pumps pressure is too high, the engine clearances too big, oil not returning to he pan, oil in the pan not baffled and pickup becomes uncovered or windage and oil foaming.
at the same pressure, either pump should be moving the same amount of oil volume through the engine. A HV pump will be bypassing more oil than a standard pump, so it will heat the oil more than the standard pump.
I don't know if there is a difference with this between using the vane style GM pumps and the Mopar gerotor oil pumps
