Good advice. I too carry the plug and pump. Research (if correct) says longest fuel stretches are 70-100 miles. Doesn't say that they are 24 hour. My range is 180 ish if not sustained WOT.Dennis A friend of mine tried to get me to take that route home in the '65 Chrysler earlier this year and after researching it, I decided to go south and take I-40 east. May I suggest at a minimum bringing extra gas. I always travel with a tire plug kit and a bike air pump. Maybe I watched too much McGyver as a kid.
If like most out of the way places do not count on fuel stops being open after dark. When the sun goes down the desert come alive. Watch out for critters.Good advice. I too carry the plug and pump. I can imagine driving the Charger Rt through the mountains and shaking a rock loose a mile long tunnel could be very interesting.
This is the log tunnel.
I try to avoid cities when ever possible.. this is what we do for holidays every year.. we dont make plans.. we just go and see where the roads take us.. 2018 will be the 66 Chargers turn to go on the journey with us.. two years ago I took the 55 pictured (avitar) down the 101 west coast. Its real hard to imagine some people travel to see cities when there's scenery like that. We do enjoy historical sites of all types tho.
