Lower Idaho has a lava bed.. lots of walking.. Friggin Hot.. walk into the tubes which is really cool.. they do have a camp site there..

I try to avoid cities when ever possible.. this is what we do for holidays every year.. we dont make plans.. we just go and see where the roads take us.. 2018 will be the 66 Chargers turn to go on the journey with us.. two years ago I took the 55 pictured (avitar) down the 101 west coast.

So Dennis H.. have a good trip... its a blast..

The only way to travel. Unless we just have to be some where we often do not book a room before a few hours of arrival. We have ended up in some out of the way places miles of where we thought the night would be spent.

ya.. most cases.. I take the secondary roads.. Minimal freeway driving.. Salt lake south was all side roads.. this day and age lots of super 8s or nicer.. wont stay at any motel 6 locations.. bad news.. all of them.. we made sure are credit card was a pin only accepted.. so no just swiping at the counter . they have a way of depleting your card very fast.. we had that happen.. not a pleasant experiance..

That I didnt know... I really like the lodge area.. cant drive alot.. Bus it from the main road , lots of walking and seeing alot though..

Last time I was on that highway was in 2008, in my D3500 dually Cummins with an 8-1/2' cabover camper. That was a fantastic ride! US 50 from Carson City to Fallon is relatively populated. Past Fallon...you best hope you don't break down! It was part of a terrific trip that brought us from OKC through southern Colorado, and across I-80 from SLC to Reno. We took the backroads back to OK. Fun trip!
