Holley Carb Rebuild Experts - NEED HELP!

I haven’t rebuilt a carburetor in years and I’m confused. I have a 3310-3 Holley 750 vacuum secondary carburetor I just rebuilt and my car is “surging” like extra fuel is slipping in somewhere. I used a Holley “Quick Kit” which has several base/body gaskets and metering block gaskets. The original gaskets for this carburetor are long gone. How do I know which gaskets to use? HELP!

I can't count how many 3310s I've re-built over the years and I couldn't tell which gasket to use. Match up the gasket to the body. Just make sure they both have all the same holes. Do the same with the metering block gasket and the metering plate if it has one. Can't remember if the 3rd series has a plate or block on the sec. Also the wrong P/V gasket will dump fuel. Make sure the A/P has the check valve.
 
It's impossible for us to tell you this because it all depends on when that 3310-3 was made. There are diferences over time with even the same list number, so there's no way to tell without seein your carburetor too. However, more than likely where the incorrect gasket is, IF there's an incorrect one installed is between the metering block and main body. There are a few different gaskets there as well.
 
You have a well built carb there. I have a 3310 on my 69Road Runner, and it works great! Mine is the 780 with vac secondary. 451 engine. Let us know how it turns out! What engine size, 440 4 barrel?

Power valve gasket? Which one should I be using and how is it different from the wrong one? I just put in a new 3.5 power valve (8"-9" vacuum at idle). Also, what is A/P? If you mean the check ball near the secondary diaphragm, that's there.

The Accelerator pump. There is a ball and strap in the bowl where the pump goes.
3310-3, the -3 means it was the 3rd series of that carb. All 3310-3 are the same but different than 3310-2 and 3310-1 and 3310-4 and so on. Early ones are a 780cfm model 4150. Later ones are 750cfm model 4160. Not sure when they made the change, 3 or 4 series I think, around the early 80's. Think the new ones are 3310-8.
Another thing I don't think the 3310-3 had power valve protection. A check valve in the base plate.

The 3310 is IMO, the best vac carb they ever produced and I also like the double pumpers and the HP carbs. IMO, the rest of the Holley line is junk except for the Dominators...
 
Someone on another post said, "Surging at cruising speed is because the fuel mixture is way too lean causing some cylinders not to fire" (i.e. jets too small or really bad vacuum leak). Mine surging problem was the intake wasn't sealed on the bottom, so I was sucking air/oil into the heads from the valley area. Re-sealed the intake & surging is gone. Thanks everyone!
