Hoovie Buys an Alleged "Survivor" 1968 Charger R/T

right!!
some of these guys spends Years tracking down the smallest parts n pieces to finish one.
some of these guys can not only tell you what shift the car was made on,but who was working that line.
theres literally Decades of history right here on this forum.
but the guys who shell for bj are the " experts " .
lol !!

@HooviesGarage
There are members here at FBBO that are acknowledged experts in the Mopar world at these cars -
the sort of people that B-J's people consult with, since they have no particular expertise with Mopars
(and quite frankly, other than the money to be gained from dealing them, that family has no personal
interest in Mopars, either).

In other words...you'd have done well to present that car to the membership here for perusal BEFORE
you considered purchasing it...at least if you were the least bit interested in the cars' providence.
I suspect instead that you were sold a pig in a poke, which fits the premise of your channel of course -
and that's fine, as long as you didn't try to pawn it off as something it isn't....which you did.
Therein lies the rub.
Having the whole shtick of "Dumbest car channel on YouTube" is one thing. Personal integrity issues
are quite another.

Well, it was nice knowing you all. This is my last post, but clearly a “grumpy old men” environment here that’s not worth my time to deal with.

The car had all the correct die lots and hemi reinforcements. These are outside hired experts that B-J hired on big ticket cars to makes sure they are not misrepresented and to cover themselves. I wish I could recall his name, but he went into the car VERY skeptical and came out surprised. Of course, I was sweating the entire time, but very curious myself because of what I had heard.

I will add that my description was more critical than how the car was billed on bringatrailer when I bought it, as well as when it sold at BJ over a decade ago. The car sold for $170,000, not $750+++ like current cars with no stories.

If anybody inspected my old Superbird in person and says otherwise, or can show concrete proof from photos, please have them email me at [email protected], as I won’t come back here.

I’m out.

I'm sure nobody here wants to mob you and most would actually be happy to help but you can't expect us to agree with everything you say just because you say so.
If you can't accept that and want to leave, too bad but you know where the door is.

Just 1 last piece of advice:

I wouldn't piss off too many "grumpy old men" if i was you because mainly those have the cash & interest when you finally want to dump that charger.
Many young guys "like" 2nd gen chargers but how many have the cash and/or would REALLY buy one?
I mean how many would REALLY want to DRIVE one? It has zero modern features and it also rides and feels completely different.
That's why I like them, but how many others my age or younger like it aswell? Most wan't modern cars that look, feel and ride like crap.
I don't know anyone my age (27) that has a muscle car from the 60s/70s and yours is amongst the priciest.

He kept saying "The car had all the correct die lots". Can someone tell me what a die lot is?

some of these grumpy old men,as you put it,are simply very Blunt and Straightforwards.
if you cannot deal with That, then so be it.
and, seeing as You couldnt stop focusing on the crappy bird, lets just point this out.
Nobody from the Winged club Wanted to bid on that claptogether.
that should have been a Huge red flag before you even Bid on it on bringatrailer.
as far as proof, you could have Researched it Before you bid,and it would have led you Right here to the car being discussed by the Wing guys.
you might even have saved yourself, but you wanted the views and you got them.

and for the finale, thanks to your kind words, you just lost a subscriber.
it would have taken you all of 3 seconds to respond to the ed comment, and get Past the bird, and hey maybe discuss the charger some more, but you are fixated.
whos the grumpy old man again? lol !
so be it,c'est la vie

I didn't expect otherwise, honestly...

I did. His brand was "humble, goofy everyman" and he just destroyed it because his ego was too big for a little PR work. I subbed to his channel, when he was making his push for 100k subscribers, because I wanted to see the Barney Fife guy with the rusted out K-car make it. I'm not interested in seeing "Mr. Burns" buy Maybachs from which he can snub the little people - although I think many of the people on this forum aren't all that "little."

There's always been little "tells" about the guys' off-camera demeanor, especially when he's on other people's shows.
You're correct - a dose of humbleness coupled with some arrogance removal would do the fella some good.
Apparently he's quite confident he's got enough fans to not be too worried about PR.

You’d think someone that makes a career out of acting goofy would have a little thicker skin.

I'm now searching the internet for another 20 minutes on dry rotted tires.
Next time I start my Plymouth I'll furiously pump the accelerator pedal until it's hydrolocked with fuel.
Great tips.
Hoodie is obviously from generation fuel injection (genFI), wasn’t raised on the knowledge of 1 1/2 pumps up to 5 pumps of the throttle to fire up a big block.
Spoiled little rich kid trying to fit in with the cool kids. But he has a good soul.

Honesty is a bitch. People that have earned money with their hands and backs usually don't have time for BS. Too bad that 68 R/T is spending time with him, probably won't be there for too long though.

Watch the first 25 seconds of this again -

"The 30 year old tire exploded - go figure!" Yeah, go figure - how could a man with the automotive experience of Tyler Hoover know a 30 yr old tire might not make a 1000 mile trip? Also, the car barely has any brakes due to, at minimum, leaking rear brake lines; but I'm guessing the wheel cylinders are also shot. I liked him up to the blown tire incident, but my immediate reaction was "You're lying, you did that on purpose for views." It reminded me of YouTuber Trevor Jacobs, who faked engine trouble in his light airplane so he could parachute out to safety (all for the sake of a YouTube video) - YouTuber Trevor Jacob crashed plane as publicity stunt, FAA says The main difference is that Trevor Jacobs crashed a 930 lb plane into a remote forest, but Tyler Hoover risked crashing a 4000 lb car on a public road with heavy traffic. Look at how many cars are going by.

I have a hard time saying a guy has a good soul when he's lying to me about something that is obviously not true.

I personally found it a major a-hole move when he made videos about how the "car wizard" screwed up putting the wrong fluid in one of his expensive mercedes.
This guy repairs hundreds of cars for him @ cheap labor, then screws up once by accident and he has to celebrate that in front of thousands of people? Yeah, not cool.

Yeah my opinion on hoovie definitely changed by now. :)

ha!! i just looked at that, and the Shining Unmarred rim too !!
not a single chip in the outer edge...
yeah thats staged,Great catch.
pause it at the 6 second mark to see the rim clearly.

Now that you mention it, would the tire come off the rim whole like that? On an 18 wheeler they usually shred to pieces when they blow. What's going on here? I can't see Hoovie taking the tire off the rim by himself.

it Will if you Drive it till the tire Comes Off,and it Will tear sh!t up too.
and the tire would not have looked so good either, there would have been Lots of ripples in the sidewalls.
other things to note, theres no Rim Grooves in the grass behind the car at all.
logical conclusion,he just threw a brand new rim on there for effect.

Since it's so staged, I'm wondering if it's a movie reference that I've missed. I got the thing with Tavarish and the Supra, because I've seen parts of the first Fast and Furious movie, but there's something like 10 of them.
