How do you guys set your timimg?

It usually tries to fires as you let off the starter but eventually starts and runs perfect. Tested the bat feed and ign source to the ignition box and both show 12V until you start cranking and then drop to 9.9V which I don't think is uncommon. Next step is to test the spark while cranking it at the cyl.

Ignition key switch maybe when swapping from the cranking to run position at fault?

That's what I originally thought but the voltmeter shows it's fine, I even tested it while switching it back and forth "has voltage".

That's your ballast resistor at work. These cars get full voltage in the start position and reduced voltage (via the ballast resistor) in the run position. You'll cook a stock type coil at full voltage. When you go to an aftermarket coil like an MSD, you can eliminate the ballast resistor.

The whole electrical system wiring and all is aftermarket, 6AL box, MSD coil and no resistor.
