How do you make your Trunk Secure?

Put some less desirable audio decals on the trunk, like realistic / radio shack .LOL!

Breaking Bad style.

It would be easier to unscrew the Fender Tag, than pluck some stereo gear from the trunk.
I never thought about that. Should I consider riveting the fender tag into place, and just baggie up the 2 Phillips screws that hold it in place?

If your car is worth decent money, I would consider getting a repro tag (that screams out Repro) and stow the original safely. Riveting the Tag is an option....your choice really.

Plan on leaving the car parked in suspect places for long periods of time?

This is one of the most important rules of classic car insurance Co's. about what you can & can't do! If I have to park where I can't see my car for any length of time, I'm not going there! Why would you want to do something so foolish, unless you just don't care? I take mine out to drive, not run errands with it! You think insurance will cover it if something happens and they find out you took your car to the grocery store when you shouldn't have! But that's a different subject that's being called out!
It's like weed whacking the rocks in your yard with your car parked 5 feet away! Why would you do something so stupid? Good Luck

Here's the answer...Park it in a garage securely!!! So simple even a ??? can do it!!!:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Maybe you should go read the fine print in your policy! But if you want to be the dumb *** victim that that claims they didn't know, which will make everybody else's insurance premium's go up with your stupidity, go right ahead. I'll laugh my *** of when you get into problems and tell you I told you so!!

I've asked Hagerty this exact question, along with the occasional drive to work. They said that as long as I have another car, they won't squabble over coverage if something like that happens

I had a similar conversation with them, and they just wanted to know if I had my own second vehicle (not shared with the wife, etc...), and where I would normally be parking the car for the night (Private Garage, Driveway, Street.). Honestly, trying to put an Antique License Plate on the car was far, far more restrictive in California regarding when and where I can drive the car. Like you'd better not take the long way to the "sanctioned parade" or "well advertised Car Show" with that license plate on it.

Sorry Jon, but I can drive it anywhere I want, when ever I want. Any of them..

You should still thoroughly re-read your policy, as I just did earlier today. There is wording in the policy that can/will screw you if something bad happens. Insurance always wins and screws the customer over, it's called "legalized extortion"!

Like I said, Good Luck if something bad happens, I don't like taking risky chances like you, maybe I just care more about things than you do?

I drive mine...in the end, it's a car. Seriously. Would it suck to have it damaged/stolen? Sure. Life-ending? Nah. I like driving it. Groceries and cans of paint and my range bag and whatever else, all fit just fine in the Charger, just like they do in my Jeep or my Ram.

Rule of thumb is - if they want it bad enough, they're gonna get it. Working at a Harley dealer years ago, we had more than a few customers with the crazy CVO bikes come in bitching that the security system "doesn't work". Well...thieves simply picked up their motorcycle, put it in a box truck, and drove off with it.

If they want it...they're gonna get it.

If you're SO scared to use it, that you want to lock it inside and rub it with a diaper? Might be time to sell it and move on, and let someone else enjoy it the way it was meant to be enjoyed - on the road, hear the engine, shift the gears, feel the suspension, smell the vinyl and gas and oil and rubber, and see all the smiles as you go by.

Chapman lock will work great.

...of course on these older cars, if they get inside the cabin all they have to do is pull the back seat....

If they want it, they're gonna get it.
