How long do you wait to take your car out of hibernation? Today here in Pittsburgh it was mid 60's BUT there is still salt on the road we had snow last week....I for one will not even think about driving the car or anything til its guaranteed warm mostly and after it rains atleast pretty good once.....

So how bout everyone else how long do you wait?

I agree, yesterday was 55 here.... tomorrow... high of 22 this SUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me, temp has nothing to do with it. Give me 1 good rain and she's ready to fly. Ya only live once.

With 8 to 16 inches of snow on tap for today into tomorrow I'll be lucky to get it out by July!! :tongue3:

It's a good thing I have a winter hobby; snowmobiling. Looking forward to what will most likely be our last ride on 6+" of snow (hopefully) in NH this weekend.

On Saturdays and Sundays. lol Sorry I live on the Gulf Coast. Glad I'm not in Michigan anymore.

Likewise, 14 celsius here all week, but still lots of sand & salt on the roads, I'll wait a bit yet. I don't need someone kicking up sand and gravel at me.

I usually drive my old cars in the winter on nice days once and a while when roads are clean, I think this is the first year that I haven't been able to get them out at all.
Yesterday was 50 degrees and today 6 to 8 inches of snow and -3 degrees tonight WTF.
Getting tired of sitting in the car making engine noises and going through the gears, lol.

I took mine out last weekend for the first time. We have been getting a lot of valley rain and mountain snow so I just don't go to the high country yet

I pulled the 7 out the other day to do some work on it while it was 50+ out. I probably would've taken it for a spin if it would've started. Probably best that it didn't... still snow on the ground here and the roads need a wash. I JUST NEED IT TO BE SPRING ALREADY!!!

......hehe, going to be mid sixties and sunny for the Goodguys Texas Motor Speedway show this weekend.

I won't take mine out until all the snow is gone and we get 2or 3 good soaking rains to wash salt off the roads maybe late April

Hey "Burg" guy, i live here also & it sucks with the current weather conditions. But i've taken my car out after a good rain has washed all the salt away. But only after the roads have dried up.

I had to laugh when I read this post. I grew up in Pittsburgh, and joined the Navy in 1979 and ended up being stationed at NAS Jacksonville, FL in 1980. The thing that struck me the most about Florida when I got here wasn't the beaches, or the palm trees, or the buildings... it was seeing kids on Christmas morning riding around everywhere on the new bikes they got as gifts! As a kid growing up in Pittsburgh, a new bike was the last thing you wanted for Christmas because you wouldn't be allowed to ride it when you got it due to the cold and snow. I remember getting this awesome turquoise blue Schwinn and being able to do nothing but ride it around in circles in our basement until the end of February when my parents said I could finally take it outside.

I don't know if I could handle doing that again with a car. :) I would say drive it, and if it gets salty... that's what car washes and hoses are for.

Its raining real good here today BUT supposed to turn to snow-ice tonight ....figures
