Do you think someone is going to restore this burnt out shell or use the title, vin and fender tags to create a fradulant AAR. The broadcast sheet must not have been in the car for the toasting.

There's a guy over on The Hamb that restored a truck that was burned worse than that. It CAN be done.

Sure it can be but still isn't worth it. Not 3500. I bought 6 E bodies in better, not much but better, condition for 3200.00 out of KS. Also included were 6 68/70B's and 5 A's.
No not a T/A or AAR but one was a 70 340 4-spd sublime Chally. Another a 74 360HP Chally and a 71 383 4-sp Cuda.

Gee wilikers batman!!! that's a hell of a score! I bet if a guy had the shop and the know how to do 90% of the work, that AAR would be a good investment. Sheez why can't I ever come across a package deal like that??? 6 E bodys for $3200....

I would think if a guy had a shop and could do 100% of the work himself, the purchase price and the parts alone to put that AAR together as a NOM car would be more than it would be worth when finished. That car needs everything! Someone will take the tags from this one and put them on another 70 and stick somebody with a counterfit car.

I recently just saw a second gen charger R/T go for about 1500. It was rescued from the scrap metal man buy the guy who sold it on ebay. The only problem was the guy who was gonna scrap it cut the car in half so he could load it on his truck to take to the scrap yard.

Yep, I smell a rebody. Even if someone were going to restore it you would end up with 90% AMD sheet metal so it's value would never be towards the high end of an unmolested example - in my opinion anyway. You have to start with a good car to get the big bucks. Or if done ethically, you would buy a donor and use all the original sheet metal on this floor pan. There is a really good article in the new Hemmings Muscle Machines mag about a 68 Mustang Cobra Jet that had the entire floor pan replaced because it was tubbed. It seemed to pass as a correct restoration.

He will get a lot more then 3500.
How hard can it be to buy a 1970 Barracuda and transfer the numbers, some swaybars, a date correct engine?
Fraud? Yes mayby but if he dismantle the Barracuda first, mediablast the body and take the parts he can use from the AAR (k-frame, axle, etc) and starts to assamble it with most of the parts from the Barracuda and some NOS parts, is that OK? Or is it some kind of percentage of the original sheet metal that counts if it is real or not?
For me an original low milage car with the original paint is the real deal, over restored Hemi cars with not a singel piece left from the original car is just a way to ruin a nice hobby and let investors in and totally **** up the prices, those cars where never meant to stand behind glass in some fancy office, they shall be out in the streets slamming through gears with screaming tires!!!
But that is just my opinion....

The ad says nothing about the engine or transmission? Anyone call?
Not such a great deal if no drive train? No pics of any drivetrain
other than the 8 3/4 Axle!
:eusa_think:

Ebay Ad Quote: "I have a clear title, a broadcast sheet, and both
fender tags. The title matches the radiator support, cowl, and the dash"
& "The VIN on the dash is intact and in perfect condition"

No mention of matching numbers for the engine!? Seems like that
would be kinda a important detail missed? He doesn't say it's a
shell either?!

we all know damn well that car will never be rebuilt and in less than a year that same fender tag will be rolling across barret jackson as a "numbers matching" low mile original.....things that make you go hhmmmmm........

The car is roasted to the asphalt, yet the VIN survives. Funny how that works.

yes , i wonder how much it was insured for........
you can tell it was a rust bucket. not to mention , as hot as that thing burned , the dash vin would have been a blob of molten metal....had it been on the car in the first place...

I bet it would be a rebody. The good news is that we have the fender tag info and have it logged as a rebody. I just lost out on a Cuda that was smashed but very saveable. I wanted to fix it correctly but someone offered big bucks for the left door the body parts that contain the hidden VIN and the title. So I took a pic of the VIN and sent it to Galen. At least there will be a chance of calling this person out if it shows up restored somewhere. If we all police the hobby crap like this will be less likely to happen.

LMAO!!!
In todays economy?
The person bidding to win has 0 feedback. There is something not legit here.

You can have the tags and hunt for the number matching stuff all you want..by the time all is said and done you will be into the car for a lot more than it will ever sell for. It's not worth a thing IMO

Question I do have though for the metalurgists.... If the car was on fire and doused with cold water to put it out doesnt that fatigue the metal in a bad way? make it more brittle and render the frame not something you would want to use?

It's a federal offense... It will be a re-body if it even sells, hell look at some of the restorations done today, the only thing they have to start with is a VIN & Rad Support #'s & trunk drip rail #'s, the rest is completely re-bodied, look at the 1969 Hemi Charger recently restored on Chop Cut Rebuild last year, there was almost nothing left of that hulk of rust, but it's a restored high dollar Hemi car now... The FBI should hopefully be watching that type of ****, it's a federal offense to do a re-body with out the proper paperwork & DMV notification... I smell fraud here.... Even the FBI made Carrol Shelby do it with the 1969 Shelby's that didn't sell, he was pawning off as 1970's, they were just re-vin-ed thru the FBI/DMV proper channels...
