very true not complete but covers a lot of transmissions over the years... and relatively easy to look up numbers

I know this topic is old.. But I decoded a transmission and I didnt see any indicator for the J that was after my first set of numbers..

it would be for a 63' MW. SHipped to dealership 10/62
This list only goes back to 65. Is there a similar list for earlier 727s?

That is what I am trying to find out.
1963 - 1964 B body 426 2-4bbls Max. Perf. the part number on the trans should be 2464426. I don't know if it would be proceeded by PK or not so could be PK2464426. I can't help with the date code, the next 4 digits, for a '62 built trans., and the sequence number, the last 4 digits, could be anything. This isn't a whole lot of help but at least it gives you a part number.
I just bought a original transmission for my 1966 Coronet 500 Hemi. I know the part number is correct as H2538389. What I am not clear on is the next set of numbers right after the part number in the same stamping size 239357. It doesn't seem to follow the 10,000 day calendar?

Sorry, it was fat finger syndrome, but while I am here I will shed some light on your question. The number after the part number has a digit missing. It should be seven digits long on pre 68 transmissions. It is not a 10,000 day calendar date, which started in 1968. It is a sequential serial number. I have a photo of a 1962 trans that has number 0000007. Sorry again for the red X. I might get one myself, as some people don't agree with me on the pre 68 numbering system.
