Hi all,

Having trans problems and I'm looking at the option of a replacement transmission. Locally available, I can get a Hughes or B&M auto, what's people's thoughts of the these two transmissions? Are they worth considering?

Also, I have a basic warm 440, estreet heads, rpm intake, Hughes whiplash cam and 750 vac sec carb -maybe 8 and a half compression. Currently has a 4.56 LSD 8.75, but I'm looking to go to mid 3's by mid next year. What converter for street with occasional strip work would you recommend?

Tossing up my options and considering pulling the manual used trans I appear to have, selling it and offsetting some of the cost of a new auto 727.

Cheers

i build a 496 15 yrs ago, put a Hughes converter behind it, lasted only a few months of street driving and the occasional burnout.

would not ever buy Hughes again, so that leaves B&M for my vote.

I would look at a Cope Racing Transmission 727. He's a small shop, not a mass producer, that does fantastic work!! And he does ship internationally.

I have 3 Hughes convertors
1. One for the 70 Hemi with a 727 trans
2. One for the 63 Maxie Clone with a 727 trans
3. One for the 67 GTX 440 with a 727 trans

I personally would only use a Chrysler 727 trans...get it rebuilt.
I think you are asking: "what convertor AND what aftermarket trans"

X2 for Cope. He did mine and very happy with it.
