Hyrdgoon's - project angrybird

A few of us from the Wasaga area are headed over to Mansfield on Sunday. See you there!

Spoke with my mechanic Greg last night and went over the list of to-do's. We're going to try and get everything done Tuesday if we go at it together which includes swapping the mount, installing torque strap, investigating and fixing oil leak, change speedo gear, change check valve in master cylinder, investigate if my clutch issue is the release bearing and get that solved and get my Cal Tracs on. Going to be a busy day!

Went to a different cruise night last night in Waterloo Ontario about 30 minutes from my house. It was a small showing and I got pics of the couple other Mopars there as well as approached by a guy driving a Mustang telling me how big of a Mopar fanatic he is! Went on to tell me about his pristine 70 Roadrunner that was rear ended 3 years ago and untouched since.... Then invited me back to his place to see it so I grabbed some pics of that as well as his Charger he forgot to mention!!

Wow, that guy should join up here too, he'd get all the encouragement he needs to start fixing that roadrunner.

I did mention that to him but I'm not sure if he caught on to exactly what a message board is lol. That RR had a pretty crazy looking 383 with dual quads and tunnel ram! By the time I grabbed my phone to take a pic I missed out on the hood being open and didn't want to ask again.

I actually thought there was almost going to be an offer in the works on my car.... He mentioned several times he should just sell a bunch of projects and buy something finished "like mine".... And I had told him a story already about how last year I almost worked out a trade for a VERY similar Charger so I think he was debating an offer of the white Charger and some cash for my car... It's actually something I would consider too as a Charger is my "The One" for me but I'd hate to start over as I'm just getting mine the way I like it and the $$ would have to be there.

Who knows I'll definitely see him again!

I hope it works out for you, sounds like a deal in the making, If the moneys there and its your favorite ride, Sometimes decisions can be hard! I wouldn't have minded seeing that engine, sounds pretty cool.... Good luck to ya if it happens, after all you have done, that would be a real hard one if it were me! :)

Another great barn find you just dont know whats behind garage doors.just buy it out right goony. It looks in pretty good shape.you will have the best off both worlds.

Some updates from today's shop day!

Started off playing with the clutch issue to figure out quick the release bearing definitely isn't the issue and it's likely the pressure plate. Greg did some adjusting and moved holes on the linkage and with a little massaging were able to work our way past the hard spot and get the clutch to start feeling somewhat normal.

Then onto the Mity Mount which wasn't a broken mount at all.... The nut had somehow backed off the stud even though it was on their initially tight with the impact! Put it back on with a locknut and and all should be good there now plus the addition of the Torque Strap.

747 there's some pictures of the strap for you. You'll notice one I took with the eye we added a nut between the collar and the eye to lock it.

I also included some pics of the Rad WIZARD did for the Seizure RT. For those of you with Chargers and clearance issues Wizard built this rad to spec for the same price as any of their off the shelf rads. It's tight in there with that crazy serpentine system but it looks good and it fits!!

Started on the Cal Tracs but I had to run for the day so will pick up tomorrow! The oil leak looks like it's off the back of both valve covers so that will get sorted now too!

Sweetness! If you could get a better pic of how it's mounted to the motor that would be great. I'm probably going to make my own since I'm poor haha. Very nice Goon

I'm sure I can manage a better pic for you. It comes with a longer bolt to replace the stock engine mount bolt... there's a small piece or iron that bolts to the mount and then another eye on the iron for the end of the rod. I'll see if I can get a good angle

If you look at the picture on the left where I'm holding up the instruction sheet you'll have a really good idea of what I just described

Please tell us there's jackstands in the pic where it looks like the floorjack is the only thing supporting the car? You've worked way too hard on this to get squashed...

Good to hear the mount issue was just a nut backing out. So you have a free motor mount from Mity now? LOL. Glad I don't need to give my Mity Mounts "The Rock" look everytime I walk by the car..

That's right Prop no need to dish out the People's Eyebrow!! lol

Never would have thought it was just the nut backing out like that but ya I guess I do have a spare mount now... I'd send it back but it cost me $30 in customs to receive!!

Gotcha, no need for more pics that answered my question. Thanks

Mike - I'll buy it off ya if you want to sell. I have new factory mounts but think a stronger mount on driver's side would be smart. Let me know

Still having some issues with the valve covers leaking.. Damn cork gasket just doesn't want to set... anyone use the silicone gasket with the steel in the middle from MOROSO?? Ordered a pair today and hope they solve my issue...

On a side note I totally forgot about what weekend MOPARFEST is not far from my place in New Hamburg and agreed to be a date to a wedding... Guess I'll miss the Saturday and Saturday night festivities but maybe can make it out Sunday if I get back at a decent time. (if you could see the girl I agreed to go with you would understand why I said yes!)

I used the blue moroso gaskets and finally stopped a tiny leak I had near #8

I use the Fel-Pro cork and use the 3M black weatherstrip cement on the valve cove side only. Works like a champ. Takes very little pressure to seal them up (measured in in/lbs, not ft/lbs). A great majority of leaks are from folks over-tightening them, not under-tightening. Tighten up the bolts is a cross-diagonal manner, like head bolts, and again, very light.....like just barely enough to keep the oil in when just sitting there. Good luck!

I used the Felpro's installed dry and so far so good but what Prop says is a good idea, I've used the contact cement to get stubborn oil pans sealed up. I really like Permatex 2 for sealing things up but it makes the gasket slippery, I'll use it and just snug it down and then come back a day later for the final torqueing.
