Hyrdgoon's - project angrybird

So I still have the Aluminum Gaskets on the way from Summit like Redstripe suggested but Greg had recommended I pick up Remflex Gaskets (made of Graphite and nice and thick) and go figure I found some in Stock at the Performance Improvements store 5 minutes from my house.

So we can see where the leak was coming from (the broken Gasket was from the loose header bolt at the rear of drivers side)

Hope it works, I used the aluminum Percys with good luck so far (600+miles). I'm still blowing out the donuts so the next set will be copper or aluminum as well. Good luck

Well they solved the issue immediately so provided I check the bolts periodically for the next little bit and then I'll have the spare Percy's Aluminum and the header lock washers on hand if need be in the future... I would really like to get through the rest of this summer without having to wrench on this thing anymore though!!

I know the feeling, I would love to just finish mine without anything else popping up. Oh well, at least it's just gaskets.

Ah, If it was easy Dev, it would be a FORD rofl... I do know the feeling though :)

Thanks for the post on those Perm-align gaskets man, I had to fight my fel-pro gaskets a little to stop my leak (colorful language, some rtv, and a native american shaman blessing) but I'll be keeping those moroso ones in mind for the inevitable "next time."

And those remflex gaskets are the truth! Probably the only thing I'll use on my cars from now on. Where's the burnout viiiideeeeoooooo?!

Oh and glad to see your torque strap is designed.. "fer extreme racin" gotta have that certification haha

Glad I don't need to give my Mity Mounts "The Rock" look everytime I walk by the car..

That's just badass... now you just need your own line of "Fer-Racin'" parts

On a seperate note, do you know what grommet you're using for the PCV into the "twist-in" hole on the valve cover? I have the same and bought a couple grommets but they are too small to seal it right.

I actually just dealt with this I can't tell you what the grommets were just that I krazy glued 2 together and then krazy glued it to the valve cover!

Putting a face to the name... I took half of my pack to the car show with me today. Here's a couple pics of him and I with the car.

Dang your a pretty big dude.................I suppose those guns are "FER RACIN" too!!! Thanks for posting the pic, it's always nice to put faces on the names. I really don't get the whole secrecy thing on here so I think I'll follow suite and post a pic tonight and with any luck maybe we'll see a few more faces.

Thanks Devin, My lil' white poofy "Fer Racin'" dog just makes me look bigger! hahaha!

I'm the same height as Kahn I believe? (6'4" ?) My "background" before my current career was in health and fitness... I use to own a gym and managed personal training departments for larger fitness chains and in my spare time I was a doorman/bouncer in Toronto which is where HYRD (Hired) GOON came from...

I've never had a prob posting a pic just could never take a good selfie of me and the car.... today I had help :) I should also add that pic is taken today on my 36th birthday :)

I do respect some people's privacy though... some people just don't want their face out there on the interweb... between facebook and internet dating I'm already screwed so why not! haha

Happy Birthday Goon! Hope you treated yourself to a few rides on the Giant Strawberry Tilt-A-Whirl.

You'll be happy them Remflex gaskets....Thew a set on mine this spring (my F' up destroying a set of Percy's on one side). Anyways, no leaks..no loose header bolts. Pricey, but work.

Cool dog man!

Wow, That Devin guy looks scary man... Im 6-5 but lost a few needed pounds, all you guys must be big fellers, I aint calling anyone sir unless i feel i should, ill take the black eye lol!! :)

In typical fashion we only replaced the side that was leaking and now I've got a leak off the other side.... Oh well at least I've got the other Remflex gasket here to get the job done.

I also had a little incident last week.and put a small nick in the drivers side taillight surround (see pic) I did a little touch up just to get by and not be an eyesore but since the car is going away soon I'd like to remove that surround and have it fixed.... anyone know what is involved with removing the surround? Is it an easy job or other panels to remove? (that little nick did $2500 damage to a hyundai and I wrote off my company Kia last week getting cut off and pushed into a concrete barrier.... Not a good 2 weeks for me and cars :( )taillight.jpg

On the Chargers it's just a few nuts insides the trunk and it's off (2 minute job) yours may be different.

Looks like it's the same on mine. I did my usual "ask first then go and look for myself" hahaha easy enough job I'll see it gets done before Spring.

Thanks for the reply as always 747!

Removed and off to paint. One less thing to bother me when Spring rolls back around

Winter projects include removing the seat and having it re-sprung or re-foamed whatever necessary and pulling up the carpet at the same time to add some sound deadening. (any tips on seat removal are welcomed)

I've been in convo with Jamie Passon about the A855 and am going to be added to the wait list. Another highway gear is definitely what's missing from the total driving experience.

Side note I went to see one of my good car buddies here in town on the weekend. He's consistently swapping/selling cars (this summer alone he had a beautiful 73 Split Bumper, a 70 Nova and a 68 Chevelle SS) He's owned some fast cars so I wanted him to drive mine since he has a good benchmark to compare too! He got scared shitless in 4th and had to let-up.... said he's never felt pull like that in anything he owned.... (Insert **** eating grin here!)

:wtg: LMAO The first thing I notice is the lack of Mopars in his rides which probably explains the shock. I know how mine runs and can't imagine all those extra cubes :headbang:. Congrats on the educational moment haha

He's had a few Mopars too and definitely isn't a brand guy he's just going through his list of wants. Plus I think flipping them as much as he does the bowties make a lot of sense cheaper for parts and lower cost flips.

Here's a link to his YouTube with a couple of his Mopars. You can look at a few of the others he owned too they're all pretty nice rides (don't mind his accent he's a Newf! :)

Supposed to go up to 14 here tomorrow which without heat in my garage may be the last kick at the can to get some work done before winter hits.

So plan tomorrow. Pull both seats and all interior, carpet comes out to lay down some sound deadening, drop the carpet and rear sea back in and leave out the front bench to be re-sprung/foamed at some point through the winter when budget allows

Anything else I should look for do while everything is out?

If you add subframe connectors which bolt in (mine are from Magnum Force), two of the bolts go through the floor in the area of the rear seat. Nice to do them while the interior is out.

If you choose to weld them in (at the ends and) to the floor, you'll find that the heat from the welder will take the rubbery sticky goop from the underside of the Dynamat (or whatever you're using) and turn it to mush. You might want to do that welding before you put the sound deadener in. Just a thought that I wish I had beforehand!
