57 for me...
57 for me...
That will be me, lolI was a month shy of turning 57.
It is funny telling people that I am retired given that I don't look that old. I've always had an image of a gray haired hunchback dude as the symbol of retirement age.
Overrated would mean not as good as advertised. Underrated means better than advertised.1997, 38 for me I semi-retired, Contractor
I still worked for the exact same group I had prior...
I went into consulting & project/facility management,
not much of the physical stuff...
I didn't have to leave home most the time...
I worked more hrs, just on my timeline, free to travel & race
especially since I started a brick & mortar golf business/pro-shop
in Rancho Murieta, did resale or retail, lesson, fittings & custom clubs
Had my kids all work for me, learn how to be prompt & deal with people
all but 1 were homeschooled anyway...
I did that for 10 years, traveled, raced like 20 events a year,
went to kid games sports & played in about 80-ish tournaments
(didn't make much $$$)
& then I moved up here 2007
(take care of my dad, he didn't want to move somewhere else),
I still did a bit of consulting, until 2021...
I still do custom clubs every so often, just not really as a business...
I still did some consulting for the dealership group...
At 4 times my old fee...
I had to fulfill 40 hrs a month but, most of it/that was by phone...
Then at 62 (July 2021)
Full Retirement about almost 2 years ago,
the last 5 were really slow years anyway, with dad's health crap...
Retirement... It was the best damn thing I ever did...
It's not underrated whatsoever...
I highly recommend it, if you can afford it...
I'm glad you had the opportunity to do, like me, what's really important. You're living the dream and bringing light to what could have been called a darken place. You're a good man and I personally enjoy watching you and your family doing your thing, and naturally, letting the horses run.At 43 I hired a GM and walked out the plastic plants door some 20 years after starting from scratch, said goodbye to each and every one of my 100+ employees, all after my Wife had been read her last rights for the third time... that was some 18 years ago now. We've tried to stay in camp for 5 months of the year in cleaner Northern air and for the other 7 I have built and repaired airplanes for folks to cover the day to day bills. Last year I called it a done deal on the airplane side at 60 years old. All I want to do now is enjoy the granddaughter(s), family and our cars.
Thanks... I bought the camp to keep the Wife alive and don't have to tell you what happened instead in the middle of all of this in the past years.I'm glad you had the opportunity to do, like me, what's really important. Five years less than me.I just calculated how old I will be when I'm financially comfortable enough to retire. 628-years-old, and that's with refraining from buying car parts. Can't wait.
Only hit 100 here again.....84 as I type this at 7:07am with 78%. Feels ok right now.I haven't worked since just before Halloween last year.
Nice temps here today, I doubt it topped 85.
