I don't want to go to work tomorrow.

Hell, I'd rather go to work than do that.

Still don't know if I am officially retired. The body says so and the doctors say so. But the bank says otherwise. The business sure hasn't made much this year.
I know you weren’t doing well a while back. I was hoping you were feeling better. I remember your son lives out west of where I am. You were going to drive out and see him and pick up some stucco wire, if I recall correctly. I’m sorry to read your health issues haven’t gotten better. Take care sir and I hope things improve with your health and life!

Yesterday was one full year that I have been retired. I have had one hell of a year, too.
I had to put down 2 dogs due to health issues.
I fell off my roof doing repairs and broke my left shoulder and one rib. I was knocked out a short time and sustained a concussion for the first time ever.
Most of the year was spent doing home repairs but some of it was spent working on the cars.
I did make it to a few cars shows and drove the classics more than before.

Retired for 6 years now, still pop awake at 0625 - 0635 every morning.
I spent years waking up long before sunrise...sometimes as early as 3:30.
I never liked that.
Now if I'm up before 9:30, it is because I have some specific commitment to meet.

I do love the freedom to do whatever I want to do each day. I have the time to help friends which I do enjoy.
I've had to watch my diet a bit. Without the daily workout and the calorie burn, I can't eat as much or I'll pack on the weight.

My father inlaw has a sticker that says "eat, drink and get fat and drunk"
I like that one.

it’s great ur retired and having to choose what fills your day . after working your whole life you deserve it !! i’m semi retired but only working part time . in a few years i’ll quit the part time deal and just work for myself. hopefully by th n my cruzer will be roadworthy and i’ll again hit the streets , car shows , cruz nights etc. congrats but be careful, we don’t heal like we used to ….

I'm sorry about your dogs, that's hard on a person's heart. Bad things just keep on happening regardless of whether or not your retired. I use to think, if enough bad things happened to you, the Gods would give you a break, yeah, right.
I woke up everyday at 4:20 and went to bed somewhere between 11 and 1. I still dream about work almost every night, my psychologist said it could be unresolved work issues. Ok, I'll check in, with let say, 5000 people and check what I didn't finish, I'm done with both.
You do what your body tells you and it will tell you, just don't ignore it or things get stupid fast.
In short, you've entered a new phase of life and it's nothing like anything before. It's what you worked toward and it will get better once you get a chance to settle into the driver's seat, you're working on that right now. It take time and chin up, I've been at it for 15 years and your time will come, I promise......... Do you know why they put blinders on horses? To prevent them from seeing sideways and behind them. Those two places have nothing for you, your goal is straight ahead. I said I promise.......... Be safe! Ulli.

What that's telling me is that you staying at home is a curse, so you should go back to work.

Sorry to hear about your pups.

Having a hobby and different interests will keep you alive! (That, and staying off the roof!)
Congrats!

In our travel/homestead hunting in these United States, the wife and I traveled back in time to Michigan's upper Pennisula (my home town of Ironwood). We decided to drop in on a great friend I had not seen in over 30 years!
I had went off to college, got a real job, got married, had kids, and on and on and on. Time was slipping away faster than I could account for. He had moved, but still lived in town. Just showed up and knocked on his door.
Too cool, it was like I just stepped out for a week, not 30+ years. Time had taken a toll, his wife had passed 7 years prior and one of his kids has the Big C and is not doing well. All this passed and I never got the memo. Granted, I don't do the whole social media thing so I would be a little hard to track down. Anyway, I decided that since we travel so much it might be a good idea to lookup and track down some long lost friends that we could visit as we travel about. There are some pitfalls as I am sure everyone is not as we remember them. Life can really change a person, for better or worse, but as long as we are in their area might as well check in before checking out.

One of the great things about being retired is you don't have to cut a vacation short because you have to get "back to work". Screw work, both the wife and I gave them more than they ever paid for. Not bitter, just the truth, we both worked our asses off (she much more then me).

The way I see it, time for us to enjoy what time we have left! Family, friends, us, travel, B-Bodies, and maybe a drink or two to celebrate the good times I know we are going to have!
