Dont assume things like I'm mad, I'm not. I agree i dont want to work with people that have been drinking or doing drugs. Keep it under control or get help. When you have to get high at work there is a problem.

We had random drug testing and a zero tolerance policy as per US Coast Guard regulations. So you knew you could get tested for both drugs and alcohol and if you came up positive you were fired on the spot no questions asked. Now it was a good secure job with great benefits so you'd think common sense would tell some give up the drugs, right. Well it didn't and some, not a lot but some still risked it all, rolled the dice and lost. I always thought how dumb was that.

I agree but these guys either didn't care or couldn't help themselves and the thing is if they asked for help before they got tested and caught they would have been saved and not lost there job.

Oh the joys of random testing, I used to work for a railroad in Chicago, and the last 13 years there I was an instructor teaching the repairmen how to fix them.
Anytime they tested an employee, if they were in class they would grab the instructors also, one day they came in 15 min. before the end of the shift, and I had just relieved myself. This gave me two hours to produce a sample. I made damn sure I waited as they had to pay me overtime to stay there. They didn't test me again for another year.

In 85 and 86 I worked for Day&Zimmerman at a munitions plant assembling 155mm projectiles. They instatuted one of the first drug testing plans in the US. Everybody was high back then and the test was problematic to say the least. A few got popped but most passed and the one's who got caught a 2nd time were fired. Everyone of them went to court and won,got they're job back with pay for time off plus a $20,000 settlement.

I'm also a courier for the Dept. Of Defense.
But, this thread is not about my job, it's about the urinalysis test...
Just though you'd get a kick out of it and let you know that for your tax-payers money, I have had 60+ urinalysis tests in the past 17 years working Flight Test for the F-22 program here at Edwards AFB, sunny Mojave desert!

We ALL get the Tests...however RANDOM they may be.
Nope, not targeted, WELL paid, 20 year Air Force VET w/a TS all my career.
Now: 17 years working DOD with a TS Clearance along with SAR/SAP/PARs to add to the resume.
Again, the entire TEAM I am on gets these tests...even our Test Pilots....

It's part of the job
