I hate points!

Used Blue Streak tuneup parts for years.....can't get that brand anymore? My tuneups would easily last a year with every day driving.

Hey Cranky, are you referring to Standard Motor Products blue streak parts? If so, Rockauto still carries some standard motor products parts, not sure if they are blue streak or not. I am using a new blue streak coil and dist cap.

I bought a rebuilt points distributor for my 440 build just for ease of startup and breaking in the engine. Then put in a MSD dist and box. That way I knew it should fire if I wired it in correctly.

Used points for years, no problems at all. Had the motor rebuilt and added a Pertronix Ignitor II and Flamethrower II epoxy coil. Looks stock except for 1 extra wire from the distributor. Easy to install and runs without the ballast so I gutted it and kept it in the factory location. Running it since October.

If I wasn't worried about getting too far away from the stock look I would get the MSD ready to run distributor.

I bought a lot of ++ BLUE STREAK ++ 3 1/2 years ago when they were discontinued ---- Have them for the MOPAR world,
the General Motors world, and the Ford world.....
Indeed, BEST set of points ever created -- with their own innovation with the bracket with the little wick.....
not to mention all copper contacts and arm...... simply, the BEST.....

They are all available for purchase -- if you would like --
points, condensers, rotors, and distributor caps......

Gentlemen,
For my money, the old Prestolite dual point in my '70 GTX V code car works very well. I can spin it up to 6800 engine rpm without any point bounce or hi speed miss what so ever. I must admit that I change points and condenser ever 2 years and use the standard Prestolite coil. I also use Champion UJ-11G spark plugs gapped at 0.035" without any low speed fouling. I also use TurboBlue 115 octane LEADED fuel blended with 93 octane unleaded pump gas at 3:1 ratio (3 parts unleaded to 1 part TurboBlue). Do you need MSD systems or Pertronix systems??? Some say yes....some say Mopar systems are better.....its up to the individual. Remember the availability of replacment parts should be considered.
Cheers, RJ Renton

I've used Pertronix on vehicles and tractors with excellent results for many years. I also still use points on some things as well. The new points definitely are not as good as they used to be. But, I clean them and carry on.

Question
Will this 67040 proform HEI be a direct replacement fit for my 67 Satellite 318 Automatic

I concur wholeheartedly.....of all the aftermarket parts, Std Motor Products Blue Streak points, condensers etc...IMO...are the best followed by Filko. Please drop me a PM, as I'm interested in purchasing a few sets.....

AMAZING all of the options! I just went through this selecting new mufflers for my car. It was like reading a menu at a Greek restaurant and I don’t do well with too many options. Ask the waitress the last time I was in one, lol. I installed a standard mopar electronic ignition system in my ’63 some 15+ years ago and it has run fine (having to replace the ECU once a few years back). BUT, these other more updated systems like MSD and Pertronix, etc. gets me wondering if I’m missing out on some added performance, especially after my motor rebuild…
