I recently picked up my "dream car", a '69 Charger General Lee..

I wanted to share a little story with you, and NO, I'm not a spammer, I actually plan on sticking around, it looks cool here!!

I am trying to spread the word so that any possible "victims" might be spared..

Please take a couple of minutes to check it out.

Thanks guys!!!

JB, sorry to hear about your purchase gone bad. I checked the link for only a minute. Did you ever go look at the car before you bought it or have someone look at it/test drive it for you? It sounds like the dollar amount would probably warrant that. So, what type of legal recourse do you have against the seller and/or the builder? From the short bit I read, it seems (even if it was an "as is" purchase), that you you have an option or two.

Hi -- No, this was my fault entirely, and I accept full responsibility for buying with my heart, not my head.

I reviewed the "restoration pictures" in great detail and had MANY recommendations by other forum members to buy this car.. I figured I couldn't go wrong, so we drove down there (overnight) , picked the car up early the next morning and drove straight home (with it on the trailer).

Then the fun began.

thanks for posting. maybe you,ll help someone else use their head instead of their heart

Thanks.. That's my hope too. I've wanted a General since I was 10.. And I finally did it.. There was no stopping me!!

really:edgy:

So I'm guessing these people who recommended the car were the homosexual lovers of the guy who had it done in the first place, and wanted to help him out of the car?

How could anyone recommend BUYING this car? SELLING it I can understand. But recommending someone BUY IT?:black_eye::black_eye::black_eye:

Ok, check this out...
The ad presents itself very well:

The "restoration page" looks very thorough:

There really were no "red flags" here. $70k into the car, $20k 472 crate Hemi, everything rebuilt.. blah blah blah.. It all sounded great..

Me being a paint and body guy of over 21 years I can strongly say that there are an abundance of cars out there like this then there are nice one's. And the problem is that people don't want to pay the price to do a car the "right" way. People don't have a clue what it takes or the money it takes to do a car "right". I have people coming to me everyday asking me "will you do my car for $4000.00" ( I know $4k is a lot of money, but not for restoring a car) and I just laugh at them. I tell them a reality price like $12k to $15K for instance and then they try to talk me down. ITS THE SAME THING AS ME COMING TO THERE WORK AND ASKING IF THEY WILL DO IT FOR ME CHEAPER THEN WHAT THIER GETTING PAID NOW! IT'S A SLAP IN THE FACE!!! Sorry i came unglued for a second. It's just like people say "you get what you paid for". Now i DO NOT condone nor practice this kind of work or behavior! I think my work speaks for itself( just check out my picture galleries) and i am not sticking up for this body shop. But the beef is not with you and this shop, it is between the shop and the guy that had it done there. I know your just trying to make people aware, and i commend you for that! I just want people to make sure they they know what they are paying for. So everyone please, please, don't try to talk your muscle car shop down in price, it's just hurting the circle of life of muscle car's.

Yeah. Nothing there to make you think it's a POS with a nice Hemi up front.

My first thought: Well, welcome aboard.

My second thought: Caveat Emptor...taken to a new level... YIKES!

You're not kidding. What's odd is BK keeps emailing me now telling me I "blew it", that I could have "sent my car back to them, at my expense (Mass to Texas) and if I paid for the parts they would have installed them for free".

WOW, THANKS!! :rolling: , but their "fixing" is what got me into this in the first place..

If you went to McDonalds and got a nasty Cheeseburger and then complained about it, would you expect them to take it back and turn it into a Steak?? I would not let them work on my lawn mower, at this point.

Well said!!!!!

But wait.. I thought I already posted some dumb ****.. I did, after all, buy this car "sight unseen", never test drove it and just went home with it.. I'd call that dumb!!!!

Like you said, though, I'm paying for it now..

If you went to McDonalds and got a nasty Cheeseburger

That is NORMAL in MASS, whats the mattar wif you? Get yur boy friend to go hit them with his purse...

You're a funny guy!!!! :angry2:

Nothing but steers and queers in Texas? That what you're saying?

So WHO was it that bought that Charger?

I'm not sure. What were we talking about again?

You live in Texas.. Want to run an errand for me? It's a small state, right?

Tiny. Takes about 10 minutes to drive across it.

Just like Liechtenstein
