Hi

I am in the market to purchase a set of headers for my 79 Dodge Magnum with a 451. I looked at TTI's 1 7/8 as well as dougs 2" and even headman headers.
This is going to be mostly a street car with some track use. I like the idea of 1 7/8 headers because they might be better on the torque. Not sure if 2" is too big.

I would like some opinions on those 3 as well as I would really like to support one of our sponsors here on the forum So I would like to buy form one of them. Might as well give the business to our forum sponsors whenever possible.

Any suggestions on who would I should buy headers from? good price is important.

Thanks

Big fan of the TTI's. Have installed dozens of sets on many A & B bodys with no problem.A good idea is to replace the engine mounts along with a new tranny mount so all fits as should. Just my 2 cents..

I have 2 sets of TTIs
Got them from Bob Mazolinni Racing, Riverside CA

Sorry, I don't know where you are from, other than USA.

Tti the way to go ,second pair . I got mine through cppa chrysler power magazine . They offer a discount if you join up as a platinum member its $99 bucks you get a 10% discount on tti product as well as a bunch of other products. You get a magazine subscription, cppa t-shirt ,news letters, tti discount , discount on parts from herbs parts ... The discount alone on a set of headers alone pays for the membership fee NEW AIRCLEANER.jpgPicture 369.jpg

Forgot to say that 1 7/8'' will be plenty for a mostly street car. Heck, I ran the Schumacher 1 5/8'' Tri-Y's on a 451 stroker in a 65 Belvedere that tip the scales at 3600 (3800 with driver) to the tune of 11.90's@112 mph in full street trim.4.10 rear gear.Sometimes big isn't always better. Also to add your Magnum is at least 4000 lbs so torque will be your friend.

After looking around I found Hooker competition headers 1 7/8 with 16 gauge tubes. The difference in specs with the TTI is that it has a 5/16 flange instead of a 3/8 which I really don't know if it's a bid deal. The huge difference is the price. Hookers are much better priced.
Is there other members here that have used those Hooker comps that can share if they fit well, worked well, any issues?
I would like to get some info before deciding on which headers to buy.
Thanks

T T I. Herbs or other FBBO vendor. Don't buy direct from T T I.

Just make sure that you give all the necessary details about your car - year, make, model, body style, head, trans and engine type, plus desired header tube diameter etc, so the supplier can confirm the headers you buy will actually fit your application. :headbang:

I love hooker comps. No hammers needed and I have power steering and torsion bars. Cheap but well made. Good fit. You have to lift the engine to get them in, either with a hoist or a pry bar with motor mounts unbolted. I used tti for the rest of the system and are nice too.

And yes 2" is way too big you will lose torque.

You had good fit with hookers? I've got them on my 72 ssp, 17/8 on a 451. I had used hookers many years ago ( not on this combo )and thought they were good to go. Was I wrong, I had clearance issues with steering and the pass side hit the trans bump out. I called hooker and was told I must have modified them or the car. I told them I hadn't done anything to either their answer was pretty much tough crap. Never again, I did just pull them to refinish, but I'll never buy another set.

I saw a set of TTi's and quickly noticed the beefiness compared to my Hedmans. if i had to buy a set of headers again I'd go with the best quality that will last forever...if that's even possible. I hate pulling headers to get them recoated.
