All garbage from icon

I wouldn't expect any less ..lol
anything Metal from Asia is a 2nd rate quality level
I don't care what it is, tools or whatever
I have a few Husky crap tools that are probably of the same quality level
no better then Kobalt or craftsmen today
I have a combo of old Williams super wrenches ,snap on, old craftsmen, few Husky crap
a few HF things but no sockets or wrenches from there.
but for the most part I avoid the junk store.
cut off/ grinding wheels and sand paper are about the only thing I have
bought there the last few years.


my favorite socket set that I have is a large old school 3/4 drive set from Williams Tool from back in the mid 70's
before they sold out to TRW.
the set can fit in its box but the box is so heavy to move
I have to half empty it out first.
the ratchet is a metal club
it either comes off or breaks! .. lol

I agree, but HF is not for the professional that uses his tools every day. That's the reason we have Snap-On. I buy from them if I need something for use on special occasions....not everyday use.

I have tools from a very wide variety of manufacturers to include snap on, mac, craftsman, kobalt, trw, etc. as well as HF. First off, they all break at some point/time; second is that as it relates to the "name brand" stuff, 60% of the price is the name. People can say HF is "junk" all they want but doubtful they have even tried them. Yes HF does have some junk, but since it costs 1/3rd the price (or less) of the "name brand" stuff you might expect it to less quality, however I have found that many of the hand tools are very good. Back in the day you bought the brand names because the alternatives were very poor quality, however that is no longer the case and with life time warranties, etc. the gap has narrowed considerably.

I work on cars every day and use snap on tools , they are the best when it comes to wrenches ,sockets , screw drivers etc , but i did just buy a set of icon 1/4 sockets for home garage ,I think for the home hobbyist they are not bad ,I have been using them for a few weeks now with no problems ,I would recommend for hobbyist

Like yourself, I have predominantly Snap-On tools. I pride myself on buying American, even if it costs more. I must admit, I am considering buying some Icon tools to keep in my Kenworth for minor road repairs. I currently have a tool bag full of Snap-On, but I always worry about losing them.

They seem to real popular. From what I have been reading, the quality far surpasses that of Kobalt, Husky, etc.

The owner means business, he had the same company making a snap on jack, make one for harbor freight. Waaaay cheaper, almost identical. Got sued and won.
