If you have a 68 big block with AC car this may help you out

Not sure whether this needs to go in the engine section or electrical. A mod can feel free to move it if need be…….So trying to figure out the alternator brackets and idler assembly mounting proved to be a little bit of a challenge. None of it was on the engine so I had no idea how it went. I could find a lot of 69 up pictures out there, but not many that related to a 68 and there weren’t any good pictures in the service manual either. It took a little time but I got it sorted out and figured I would post some pictures to help others out with it. Looks to me like the crank pulley will have to be shimmed out a touch maybe

Let's help you, I see problems. The small adjuster pulley is in the wrong place front to back.

Belt order is:
rear 2 go to Alt and A/C compressor
3rd is the adjuster and water pump belt.
4th or Front belt is PS pump only.

So see if the rear 2 are lined up with the alt and AC compressor.

I appreciate it , but I think you are off on that. The spacer behind the idler sets where it goes. Also this is the original water pump pulley and crank pulley. They line up on the front groove along with the idler pulley. The power steering pump would be second from rear, but this car didn’t have power steering. Here are pics. I haven’t gotten the WP pulley cleaned and painted yet. And yes the rear two grooves are lined up with the alternator

I believe you should be using a 2 groove water pump pulley and it will be smaller diameter than the single groove.

The car doesn’t have power steering so it would use a single groove. This single groove is 5.5” diameter as it should be.

383 A/C cars with/without power steering used the same 4 groove crank pulley. Part # 2465326 Used in all B and C body B-block ac equipped cars. 440 engines used a different pulley. The outside groove is for the water pump. The next groove is for the power steering.The two inside grooves is for the alternator & A/C compressor

That matches the setup on my 67 383 with a/c. 4-groove crank pulley. Front to rear belts are: single water pump & idler belt, single ps belt, and double belts on a/c & alt.

Yes that water pump pulley is correct.

Looks like my 67. Never seen those long heater hose nipples before. Might be correct - not. sure.
