If you were 20-25 years old what car would you buy right now?

In the middle of the situation you described. No regrets on any of my cars. All craigslist finds and are projects in various states of disrepair, but I went for a 70 roadrunner post, 69 roadrunner hardtop, 70 convertible roadrunner, 93 12 valve, and my daily 81 trans am. Know I have too many, but theres a 66 charger for sale pretty cheap near me, might have to jump on it too...

Work truck would be a Dakota RT. They are out there and in good shape. My hot rod car would most likely be a Demon Challenger if the pay was good enough but when in my early 20's and was making good money (once out of the AF at 22 and 11 months) the money was good), having a car payment wasn't in my wheel house. Finding a house to buy with a good size garage to work in was what I was looking for and found one shortly after turning 23......THEN along came a 72 340 Challenger 2 years later for 1800 bucks.

i would say a project 68-70 charger
the rest of that junk listed above will only depreciate in value in a couple of decades
who knows where the 69 charger will be in 20 years
but i doubt they will lose any value

Let's assume you have your first real job in your chosen field. No wife no kids, you have some free time and some free money. Would you buy a project knowing it would continue to cost you more as you went along? Something new or nearly new you lusted for? Some finished car you always wanted.

No arm chair quarterbacking saying if it was 1969 I would do this. It has to be now. I really don't know what I'd do. My son says he thinks a 392 Scat Pack Challenger would be about right.

How much money are we talking about ? Is quite evident most of us would buy a demon or a hellcat but fresh out of school and paying your own accounts is really hard to buy one ( new or used ) just my .02 cents

Just buy a beater and enjoy it while you pay off all of your debt and put money in a 401k too. Never ever touch the 401k. Scrimp and save now.


Domestic cars? I definitely drool and slobber all over those 392 Challengers, but a 20-25 year old probably can't afford the payment much less the insurance.

Project/Old cars?
(1) C Body barge with a 318 or 360. I had a '72 Fury III for several years and I should have kept it.

(2) 1984 Shelby Charger. I had one for several years and I wouldn't mind having another one.

I'd probably look at something like this as well, MV Agusta RVS.

Always been a fan of high end Italian sport bikes.

Sorry; But exactly what I did in 1969, bought a NEW 69.5 A12 right out of the show room and would do it again today. Paid full sticker because the salesman said they are not making many of these. $3800, my mother had to co sine.
No longer have the car but some of the owners cards with her signature.

Definitely a b-body from the years of 68 - 73. I do like the new stuff out there now but just to expensive. Plus I love working on the old stuff, much easier. At least if I dropped a nut or tool I would hear it hit the ground. just my opinion.
