I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or not. Didn’t the IHRA shut down a track in FLA and try to sell the land for warehousing?

I don’t see anything on IHRA or Dragway 42 sites, so this ma be a BS rumor.

I can only find this reported on Facebook, Instagram and X... so it MUST be true!

There’s a video of the owner saying it at the awards banquet. Low quality, hard to hear, and very little info. But it seems legit.

Where did they get the $$$, they were defunct just a couple months ago
I did read on Dragzine Newsletter a while back now
Allen Rienhardt (spell) former tech & annalist from NHRA, is the new Pres. of IHRA
maybe he found some funding, backers & sponsors

Mike Dunn couldn't, not for any LACK OF HIM TRYING EITHER

It seems a bit outside of their finances, big leap
unless they had or found a shitload of cash/backers/sponsors, all of a sudden
&/or a crapload of borrowed cash/loans/debt to start out, to be buying a dragstrip,
when they were literally bankrupt 6-7 months ago, ceased operations...

If I’m not mistaken, IHRA and WDRA just merged.
It could be some weird money games. Makes me nervous.

Summit Racing has usually a 5-10yr plan going forward. Can’t really see them helping out? Course, could be mistaken.

The guys at Big 3 racing might know the real scoop. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have started building a multi million dollar race shop there if they knew the track was going to be sold for property.

Wow lofty venture, some cool tracks too...
Hope that works out for them...
IHRA is spending some series funds, this time it seems
acquiring several tracks
hopefully they don't overextend themselves, too much debt
I hope they get good crowds & have good payouts,
to keep the racers coming back, which will keeps fans in the seats...

I wonder if they will still,
stick with the 'Amateur only/Sportsman Racing classes' too
that didn't seem to work well enough last time around
maybe no-prep (?), some seem to like it, a lot of the 'Instagram' younger crowd
(I'm not a huge fan of it)
Or Pros get/put butts in seats, Funny Cars, Fuel Altereds, T/S, P/M, Mountain Motor P/S
Outlaw Pro-stock too, them fans of them racers/Older people are buying concessions/swag...
Hopefully they'll do 'Mountain Motor' stuff still, what IHRA was known for...

I saw something about them bringing back Pro classes, so maybe thats what they have in mind.
Bracket races only bring in a handful of spectators that aren't crew/family of racers.
No prep has big crowds, but I think that market may be getting saturated. I think its hard to keep the car counts up with the costs involved with heads up racing.

Hope it works, a buddy & I have been to 2 street outlaws & it was very nice.

Am I understanding that right?... Big 3 is building their new facility at Dragway 42? Maybe that fire was a blessing - they had to be outgrowing that shop in Hinckley.

I've raced at all of thes tracks. Been awhile since Darlington and MIR. Milan is my home track and has had a bunch of upgrades in the last 2 years. We race the others on a regular basis as well.

Yes they are building the new shop on the property west of the track on the spectator side. Now I have to wonder if the IHRA knows about the construction project going on there. Pretty sure Ron just sold them the acreage.

That's good news; that's only ten minutes from my house!
