Howdy all I am hoping for a little help on this. I bought my Plymouth basically with most of it in boxes so I have never seen it put together. I have the headliner installed and I am trying to install the two long chrome pieces that help hold the headliner in place and that go above the windows. I though looking at it this would be easy but like everything else on my car it because a teachable moment... So I have two questions, one I suspect there is some sort of clip that has to mount to the body of the car what type of clip is it and two how does it mount? I have speculated on a few different ways but nothing seem correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have to move soon and I need this thing together.

Cheers,

Joe

My 67 GTX is in pieces now but if I remember right from disassembly the interior trim screws screw into the slotted holes in the headliner retainers pictured below and the headliner bow retainer clips slip over the flat angled surfaces in headliner retainers...

Howdy Joe, I installed those moldings about 18 months ago, my memory is a little fuzzy. The headliner retainer brackets that Cmmopar is showing in his photo, I believe are held in by little pinch clips. This clip is a 1966 version of a modern 2 legged push retainer. If I remember correctly the clips go through the retainer and are "pinched" to expand the tabs into the B.I.W. I don't think that trim moldings screw to the headliner retainer brackets. I believe the screw locations for the moldings are not holes but slots in the B.I.W. (in the roof side rail). If you look carefully you will be able to see where the screw was in the slot. I hope that this helps! Brian.

Cmmopar, it's people like you that make this site a great resource. I'm sure your photos would help Joe a great deal. Thanks for helping another Mopar nut bring his car back to life, Brian.

If the headliner is in then those tack strips are already in too?

The chrome is the piece that runs from A-pillar back through the to the rear of the quarter glass. I think that's what your referring to. In our 67 R/T it screws on but on the 68 GTX we had it used a clip that sat in the channel and pinched the pinch weld.

If it has holes then it screws in and if no holes then it would clip in. I also assume this is a hardtop.

Couldn't get to car today had to work late, will get there tmmw and post for you..I didnt forget

Hey thanks everyone for the replies. So those pieces are in already are installed and it is chrome piece that runs the length of the windows to the back window for the hardtop. There are screw holes in the Chrome piece. I will try and take a photo or two tomorrow when i got some daylight. Thank you all again. Car people are some of the best people.

Finally was able to get to car to get pics. Trim attaches by long screws directly into innermost slots in upper door opening right above headliner retainer teeth. I am pointing to it one of the pics. If you need more pics let me know...

thanks!
