Insurance (Robbery) Time

Each day we are bombed with tv commercials 'In a wreck, get a check", One call , that's all. Even slammed with small local law firms ready to sue an insurance co. How long before those big payouts result in 'good drivers' being forced out of being able to afford coverage at ALL.

Everything has gone up. Thank God inflation is so low now............... The costs associated with living in my development have almost doubled. My neighbor started to complain and said he was thinking about moving. He didn't appreciate me asking how much he wanted for it. My point was, you can run, but you can't hide. California and Florida, with all that's goes on there every year can't be helping us as consumers purchasing any insurance on anything. They spread the losses around. If they're not making money, you'll know it when they close their doors. It's always about the money. I have Shelter Mutual Insurance Company and have for 44 years. Am I loyal to them, no. I've just asked around and found they all offer a pretty decent deal the first year or so and then, it's hammer down. I'm down to two cars and one house and short term coverage on a flip. I just pay it and move on to the next raping. Try $1.89 for a red pepper, now that's cheap..............

I have zero loyalty to any insurance company, because they do not value you or me as customers. My homeowner's insurance went up 33% with CSAA (AAA) over last year, and that was with no claims for 12 years. The car insurance went up, too. Their excuse - "Well, everyone on the state is paying more this year, so..." Well, I'm NOT "everyone".

Went to Allstate, because with AAA, it is impossible to actually have a face-to-face with a local agent. Unless, of course, you want to buy insurance. Actual policy servicing or even questions are on the phone or "have you tried our website?"

Allstate is a ball-buster, too, but it IS marginally cheaper and they have actual local agents.

For my old cars, Hagarty has been superb. No qualms with them. (knocks on wood)...
I've been with State Farm for forty years, which is somewhat ironic, because my parents always used an independent agent, and had bad experience with State Farm in the 1950s. Dad always seemed to have bad luck getting rear ended, and he got hit three times in two years back when I was a toddler. State Farm whacked him with an increase, and he went elsewhere. I went with State Farm after I bought the first GTX and got married, because they gave me a better deal than the independent agent I had been using prior. That was only because I checked the right boxes - perfect driving record, married, over 25. None of the insurance companies liked the car. Nearly a decade later, I talked with an independent agent again, but his companies refused to underwrite Baby Blue. Deal breaker for me, and I stayed with State Farm.

State Farm is brutal about controlling losses. They only want the top end of the market in terms of measurable risk. They give a freebee for long term customers, which my daughter used up two decades ago, with her first major wreck. When she had the second, totaled the car, I took away her keys, and got her off my policy. She rode the bus until she finished college, and I kept my low rates. Another thing that helps me, is living in an area known for stingy jury verdicts. What kept me from making a living in private law practice years ago, now keeps my insurance costs at an affordable level.

When I was a kid and got a few to many tickets, my insurance man said it would take, I don't remember, 4 or 5 years for it to wear off, so to speak. After that period of time, I asked him if I could expect it to go down, ready. He said that I'd gone so long without a problem that the odds where I was due!! My hand to God!! I got married a few years later and it felt like it went to zero compared to before. It's a game and living with it is the best you can hope for.

Ambulance Chasers every one of them. Sleazy, shyster law firms that pray upon people and their misfortune. Even the ones soliciting for Round Up exposure Camp LaJune water issues, blaza blaza blaza!!! I have never stepped foot on LaJune in my entire AF career and yet I am constantly badgered by those seeking to make a buck off of me. It just never stops!!! cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

When the tornado hit 20 years ago, I ended up bringing USAA before an arbiter at the Oklahoma State Insurance Commission. USAA offered an insulting offer of $2,440 for my beautiful, full-coverage 1970 F250 (Dad's old truck)...nevermind, it was insured for an agreed value of nearly $8K. I will always be USAA's best NEGATIVE advertiser. They've proven to be very sketchy on claims here in OK, especially for homeowners policies.
