Insurance

I have 3 classic cars thru Hagerty for over 15 years.

I also have cherished salvage coverage.

Collectible vehicle insurance through Hagerty is the only coverage that offers Cherished Salvage, meaning:
  • You can retain salvage of your vehicle in the event of a covered total loss
  • No salvage value will be deducted from your final payment if you choose to retain your vehicle
  • You still receive the vehicle’s Guaranteed Value
  • The cost is 15% of the vehicle’s physical damage premiums

For example your car gets rear-ended and meets the agreed value.

You keep the car.
How much did you have in engine cost? The grill alone on my 65 was 1.700 in shipping and restoration work.

We have 3 vehicles under Hagerty. All 3 have declared value and salvage rights to keep if totaled. Just under $600.00 as of last renewal. Can’t complain too much. They covered our Hearse when nobody else could understand it is not a commercial vehicle!
Insurance companies are just idiots.

Has anyone found anything that has went down, food, car prices, the price of a 2x4 or the price of the house to use it in or the interest rate to buy the house. You can shop till you're blue in the face, welcome to the new world. Wait for next year.............. I found one thing that's went down, C/D rates.

I have no idea how you got it so cheap.. they wanted $650 for me for 20k... might be location though.
I get my cheap rate based on the extremely low payouts on lawsuits in my area, which was one of the reasons I left private practice over four decades ago. I also carry a seven figure umbrella liability policy for $160 per year. I put this in place after jury verdicts starting hitting that amount with some regularity. When I was in private practice, the record was $300,000. At that price point, I calculated I could make more money driving a truck, so I did.

Well said, like always!! It's like a cake in the oven, the outside perimeter gets burned, and the rest of the cake pays for it.

It used to be the older your car got, your insurance went down. When was the last time that happened. Now my 65 that would have been considered cheap as far as personal property tax, is now being judged by mileage, rather than just an old car. Creative minds in our government looking for loop holes to screw us.

Seems like most everyone commenting is better off than I am, I just dumped American as they raised my premium every single year. I am now with State Farm for my Charger at 480 annually. Agreed value 90K. Insurance prices suck these days. I am a 60 year old guy with a 2022 Chevy Silverado as my DD and I am at 2000 dollars a year for that vehicle after bundling my house, truck, boat and frigging golf cart with Allstate to get it! WTF

Haggerty $839 a year for a 1970 Road Runner Six Pack Car , agreed value $90,000 fully insured

Learned over the years the cheapest price is not always the best deal......

It's all about the loop holes. First heard the issue addressed at a professional level when I took federal income tax, and then criminal law my freshman year in law school. Over the course of four decades, my education finally paid off, not because of making a huge income, but by learning how the system worked. I hired people who were smarter than me in exploiting the loopholes, and they got me to the finish line. I've played the game with my insurance coverage to get the most competitive price. My umbrella policy is cheaper than buying higher liability coverage for the cars alone.

I get money back each year and a nice chuck of it. I hire people who get paid to squeeze every dime they can. It's a game that changes yearly.
