Stock bolts. Should i smear the ultra grey around all the ports?

I have a thin bead around all ports when I did mine, what I do is bead on RTV then with my finger spread it flat and thin over the whole gasket covering all edges. Then Add a little extra at the corners, then using thread sealant coat the threads of the bolts and bolt them in using a cross pattern torque sequence. My bathtub with 4 paper gaskets has been on for a couple of weeks now and no leaks.
