To start, I'm not sure where this should be listed here or another section. If it's in the wrong place, can a mod please move it.

Anyways...
Since we are wanting to redo the bird sometime in the near future, I figured it'd be best to gather the parts needed long before we start the process.
As I scour CL and other places, I ran across something extremely disturbing.

This old girl has a sad story. She got tossed aside many years ago and forgotten. So after 15 years, someone found her and took her home. She patiently sat waiting. The old girl waited. Several have come to get parts. Her only other visitors were rodents and other critters with the occasional glance of her owner as he drove past her in the field. Most times he didn't even glance in her direction. The weeds get taller every year. The rust grows engulfing more and more. And she was forgotten too long. What was once a beautiful 72 in Petty Blue, now sits the Sad Blue of someone's memory and several intentions.

I, like all the others, went and scavenged a few parts and pieces that I needed. I hated that I couldn't bring her home. And, like everyone else, I left her sitting in that field.
It's frustrating to see cars get thrown in a field and left to die. It's mean and disrespectful to the generation of muscle cars. It's cruel to let something sit and fall apart.
Rant over.

Tis the circle of life, some must die so that others may live.

Most in that position, aren't worth fixing.

Window down, crunch fender. Floors are gone along with the frame rails? I've seen cars in fields before that sat for years and ended up being in good enough shape to fix up without breaking the bank.....

I didn't even attempt to look at the frame. It was on the ground. Lol. Very little was left of the floor pan. Same thing with the trunk. The trim moldings were still in good shape, which I quickly grabbed the ones for the half vinyl top. The hood was also in fairly good shape - another piece I grabbed. The bumpers looked to be in good shape too. But, I've already got a brand new set in plastic hanging in the garage.
The pic I posted was one that was taken before the car was set in this field several years ago.

So very true. I just hate seeing any car sit like this, but it does seem like quite a few things have been taken to help others with their cars just as I did.

If every car was saved nothing would be rare..
Kinda hard to save a total.....but I guess anything is possible. Just hate to see savable cars become donors.

They were just cars when parked or left out in the back forty.
