Jason's 68 coronet build

I'm not sand bagging you Jim. You are clearly whipping my ***! I'm back now and ready to get this thing on the road!

Great to see you back! Sat in the DMV for an hour this morning, mine is legal to hit the road. The AC blow cold as of tonight and once the windshield is in (tomorrow?) I can take it for a SPIN!

Sweet! Your car turned out awesome!

Here's where we are at. Winter has been Crazy busy at work! We are just finishing up a new house, have 2 other remodels going on, and are starting to dig for the next new house this coming week. I need some more guys. Been looking, but it is hard around here to find someone who wants to work, and doesn't already have a job. If the are looking, they have a criminal record as long as my arm or are just lazy asses. Anyways back to the car. Brakes are done! We have all stop and no go. Engine compartment wiring is 95%, front wiring done except turn signals. Need to finish rear wiring. I gave to move my coil to the inner fender because of a slight interference issue.View attachment 409467I guess it's not that bad unless I want a fuel line, haha.

In the next week or 2 I will be ordering my exhaust system. Think biting the bullet and getting the tti headers. Any thoughts on the rest of the exhaust system? TTI? Flowmaster?
What is everyone running for throttle brackets, throttle cable, and kick down cable? Must fit a demon carb.

I have the Lokar throttle and kickdown cables. They look great and work well and were easy to install and adjust. Some prefer the Bouchillon cables, though. There was a recent post about this question.

Here they are before I changed intakes and carb.

Making some progress. Got my shifter installed. Just have to route the cable and hook up the linkage.

Got the gas tank, just waiting on the tank pad.

New shocks came in today. LOKAR throttle cable, kickdown cable, and the rest of the wiring will be here next week.

New steer gearbox came today.

Gotta throw a rebuild kit in the demon, the accelerator pumps were rock hard.

Monday I have to drop the drive shaft off to be shortened. I decided to black out the entire grill. She is gonna look mean.

Underside. Sorry for the blurry photo, it is all I had. Also I have the FI tank so it is different. There are 2 vent nipples on the stock tank. See which one lines up with the hole in the shock brace, you can see the vertical vent pipe here connected to the special scissor clip that holds the line to the shock brace. Also the metal strap that makes the electrical ground for the sending unit jumps between the vent nipple and this short pipe under the car. I am amazed the sending units work as well as they do with such a really poor grounding system.

I wish I had known you were buying KYB shocks. I will be selling my practically brand new KYBs since I swapped them for Bilsteins.

Been a while since I posted. Mostly just doing check list stuff getting done. Fuel system is done, just waiting on fuel pump, should be here Friday. Driveshaft shortened and installed. Shocks installed. Throttle linkage and kickdown cable done. Got helper monkey #3 to help install side marker lights and finish the rear wiring.

Put in fresh oil and filter last night. Went to test the wiring tonight. That's where things went down hill. I removed the factory fuse able link, and just installed a regular fused link. Hooked up the battery, tested the grounds, and installed the fuse. Immediately fried the fuse. After 2 hours of unplugging everything under the dash (boat loads of fun), and testing again, I was left with a pile of blown fuses. Then I had an idea. Disconnected the ammeter and tested that. Sure as **** it was a direct ground. Looks like I will be bypassing the ammeter, which I thought about anyways.
Still waiting on my headers and exhaust from. TTI. 3 weeks now. Bumpers will be here Thursday. I hope to have everything else sorted out by the time the exhaust shows up. Then install that and turn the key! Car really needs a bath, maybe this weekend.

One more thing. Anybody have measurements for the accelerator pedal location? Probably gonna need that.

Not enough info Jason! In the floor pan or in the carpet? The helper looks like a big help :)

You should think about adding O2 sensor bungs to your headers before you install them. That way it will be done in case you decide, like a lot of us did, to tune your carb with an wideband O2 meter or switch from carb to EFI at a later date.

So, I bypassed the ammeter, and now everything works!

Man this thing is almost embarrassing dusty. The only 2 things that don't work are the emergency flashers and I have no dash indicator lights ( turn signal and high beam)? Turn signals function properly as do the high beams. I have all the dash back lights too. Need to test the switch for the hazards. I winged the gas pedal install, functions great.

Just a little dusty. The joys of living in the country during spring field work.

Sorry Jason I was going to look for some photos but we have been going through some really rough family stuff the last few days. I can still look for them to see if you would like to see how well you did.

My car gets dusty fast and I live in the city. I have a car cover but it stays in the trunk a lot while I'm working on the car; which is all the time.

I noticed you have an electric radiator fan. I heard they draw a lot of amperage. Did you upgrade your your alternator?
