Pat the Rockford Firebird owner/restorer shown in video and is a Mopar guy too. Lives close in my same town
He built and owned the Daytona used in the Joe Dirt movie. They added patina (fake) and the rims.
Also the B5 blue Superbird from the remake Gone in 60 Seconds was his.
One of the two #43 1971 Road Runner Petty race car he owned/restored.
And also did the Bobby Allison #22 Hemi Daytona race car

They bring one to Iola once in a while. The one they show here is not as shiny as this one is, original paint and all, someone parked it as soon as they got it. Not sure who owns it, they are never around the car.

That’s from earier shows so it’s an earier model.
I think they had 3 or so at any one time.
They are actually Formula models, but the scoop hood was removed to look more plain like an everyday PI might have.

The original 1974 was an Esprit with 350 2bbl. These were upgraded with Trans Am suspensions.
From 1975 onward, Formula 400 was used, but Esprit hood was installed and spoiler removed to look similar to the first season, in line with what a P.I. could likely afford. The better suspension and larger engine were to help with his famous J turns.

James Garner didn't like the front end styling on the 1979 Firebirds, so for the 79-80 season they kept using 1978 models.
