They bring one to Iola once in a while. The one they show here is not as shiny as this one is, original paint and all, someone parked it as soon as they got it. Not sure who owns it, they are never around the car.

How long did the show run?

75/76 looked thee same as did 77 and 78.

Lots of shows changed to keep a current model on screen.
 
Y'all need to watch the video. The gentleman explains how many "screen cars" there were and what
years/models they used during the run of the show.
 
The original 1974 was an Esprit with 350 2bbl. These were upgraded with Trans Am suspensions.

From 1975 onward, Formula 400 was used, but Esprit hood was installed and spoiler removed to look similar to the first season, in line with what a P.I. could likely afford. The better suspension and larger engine were to help with his famous J turns.

James Garner didn't like the front end styling on the 1979 Firebirds, so for the 79-80 season they kept using 1978 models.
