Just saved this 68 Road Runner 4 speed from the crusher. Any way to tell by the sales order number when it was made (month)

No title, No data build plate, no sales broadcast sheet. Just the vin on the dash. Car is rough and stripped of everything. It's a shell. Original color of car is that dark red (Moulin rouge?) The VIN says it is a 383 car. Pedals still in car. Any way to tell by the sales code numbers on the driver's trunk rail of when it was made. Reason is trying to figure out if it was an early made car in the year which would have the Inland shifter and later that year switched over to a Hurst shifter. Also, what would be the month date code I would need to look for in searching for a 383 motor and 4 speed to make it numbers matching? Also, the rear 8 3/4 and springs. Going to restore it back to stone stock.

Since car was ordered 1/10/68 and delivered before the end of the month it would be only a guess when it was built. We never expected the car to come in that quick, most times ordered car would take a month back then, but Dealer thought Chrysler was trying to get the Road Runners out there to show them off. For $3000 I didn't care or take interest in when car was made. Today we want to know everything about the birth of our car. Satellite was same Hardtop body so maybe that is why H.T. Road Runners came in quick.

My understanding is the Hurst shifter didn’t show up til late in the ‘68 model year. I’ve only seen a few.

I understand the Hurst shifter started 15 Feb '68.

Does the car have shoulder belts or brackets for them?

No= early (before Jan 1, 1968)

I was curious about this, not to hijack the thread, but was reading other posts about the shoulder belts being federally mandated 1/1/68 yet on my Coronet there's no nuts welded in to the provision for them, bench seat car originally with a build date of August 18 of '68.
Also had the RR1 paint code which decoded to Burgundy Metallic if it helps anyone.

Are you sure it's not August of 67 for a 68 model?

Then it would be real early.

Fairly certain. I used this site 1968 Dodge Body Plate Data to decode and the H4V for white trim(vinyl top) only showed up under 1968
There was one other site I used where it let me enter all my tag info and it listed everything out as well, all saying the same thing. I think it was this site 1967-1968 Mopar Fender Tag Decoder, Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth
