Kenworth announced this month that in 2026 the W900 series of trucks will shut down.

In production since 1961, Kenworth noted that "The decision is due to evolving emissions regulations and component constraints as the industry moves forward with new, more efficient, and better integrated technologies and products. A final call for truck orders will be announced later in 2025."

Change is a good thing, for some. I guess it was harder to figure out where to put the new wings on it............... Change.

Great trucks. I drove one with over 3 million on it and not a squeek or a rattle. 3rd rear diff housing as it got ate out by salt on the roads. Pete's rode a bit better but the W900 was tougher IMO. Better than a plastic Freightliner or Volvo anytime. No wonder they can't find drivers to hire anymore.

That's where I retried from 25 yrs I transport them from factory to dealership and body companies they were the best ride hate to see the large car's gone

Jeff you get your w900 new every one that I drove I put a burger under driver seat should have been dry when u got lol

A little side note to those photos, that’s leaving the Lake Odessa wildlife refuge, where I’m coming out it drops off so steep it’s all I could do to get there truck out empty, so we tracked the machine to the top of the hill and loaded it, then I had a Foreman (who took the series of pictures) watch traffic, cause once I got moving, I would have high centered if I had to stop, you can kind of estimate how deep it is to the bottom by the tree top line in the distance.

The Gooserooter from Geraldine will be pleased.

I drove W900s from the midwest to the west coast during summer break when I was a law student from 1981-83. The build quality was amazing compared to anything else I drove during that era. Years later, my Peterbilt 379 was close, but as mentioned earlier, the Peterbilts gave up a bit of strength in some areas to save weight. Sorry to see this era end, but I'm actually surprised to see the W900 and Peterbilt 389 made it as long as they did.
