L78 4speed vert Impala SS I found in the woods near my house.

It's incredible how they let that whole property rot. The house is starting to cave In and it's a Victorian mansion
Is the property up for auction/sale yet? Suppose there could be searching going on for possible heirs but if the guy didn't leave a will that complicates things. Not sure; but even though he doesn't have any heirs or didn't leave a will I think, again not sure, they still do a hunt for any family. Happened to my aunt having split up from a guy for years, her living back in IL and he still in FL; but no official divorce...she ended up with a windfall she wasn't expecting..

Seldom are there records of vins in state data based that go back to 65. Pull them over and apply for lost title. I know my buddy who is in law enforcement tried to search my VIN. Being it's a 64 there are only 10 digits. The system only accepts 17 didgit VIN.

I'd check with the county to find out who owns the land, first. Great car , should be saved.

Man if I found out the town of state etc took ownership of the land, I'd be yanking that car out pronto because chances are they have no records nor do they care what is there.....They will pile it up in the trash and then scrap it all for pennies. If it's private property then you are kinda screwed but once the town etc took ownership I'd be there with a roll off indeed!

Property owner was a elderly hermit that died some years back and the land ownership is disputed since the guy has no heirs. Surrounded by park land so maybe the park owns it now idak.
this is my line of work here.
and,i can tell you now, your best bet is to find out Who owns the property, and then offer to remove the junk cars for free.
if you dont want them all,get the ones you want first! then go find a local scrapper and let him do the rest of the junk.
thats a win win for you.

if you wait, the odds are 99% gonna be you seeing some scrapper piling that car and the others into a box or trailer and then Nothing will get saved.
i have code guys/town boards/in diff towns that call me asking for cleanouts and all you need is the town authorisation to get them out.
nice Find too!
those have been one of my fav cars since i was a kid and saw Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry at the drive in.

Hope I don't lose my MoPar Man card for this :poke:

cool 65 Impala BB 396cid 4 speed car

by the way, it's a 66 4 dr Biscayne was the car in DMCL too

yes there were some true 425hp 396's,
great flowing rectangular port big valve cylinder heads
Holley Carbs & alum. Winters manifolds
most were in Corvettes, a select few were in the big cars too
(NASCAR Homologations rules of that day ?)
it's a great engine for the time, prior to the 427's & 454's
most the 396's were rated lower in the cars
that weren't Corvettes too
a 375hp 396cid is no slouch either

to each their own

Maybe I could lose my mopar man card too; but hey there were many cool cars including the Impala in focus I like. Each of da big 3 had their unique rides; the old Pontiac Super Duty, pre-GEETO cool, of course, the GTO, '63 Ford Galaxy 427, Chevelle, Olds W30, among plenty of others I like. Yep, I lean to mopar and wish I could have my '70 Cuda back and '67 goat. Sob story any guy my age that was into cars can share. Mopar, to me, took overall muscle to a higher level among all their models and a tad above the other 2...unequaled in my opinion. Hate to think of what life woulda been like without Chrysler Corp!

Drag it out yourself and claim it Derelict so you can make it your own.

Both of the 66 Chevys that were used in the movie DMCL were Impala's, not Biscayne's.

Pretty cool car for a GM. Some good advice on here. If you're interested, don't hesitate.

Especially that year Impala SS. I believe the nicest looking was those 65s.

Thinking about saving it. I was looking at prices of making it a driver and it’s really not that expensive (gm parts are SUPER cheap) I can buy a complete rolling frame for a couple grand and a full interior kit for about the same. Because the body panels really aren’t roached on that car I think I might be able to do it. I don’t know tho... I was going to build a fox body daily driver but I don’t know if I could daily a Big Block 4 speed impala.
If I finish my charger within the next couple years than I’ll seriously consider it, I love this car below.

You will go back and they will be all gone, sadly as said above probably scrapped.. Jump on them NOW or let someone who will do it.....

When I bought my roadrunner it was essentially an abandoned car. It was parked in an old body shop storage lot for over 25 years. I had to drag the carcass to DMV where state police inspected it, ran VIN numbers to see if it was stolen. Then DMV ran VIN numbers to see if there were any registered owners. None found. So...DMV looks up book value and give me a number that I needed to get bonded title insurance on for 1 year. $550.00 later had a title in my name. That is Arizona but I think most states have provisions for this situation.
