LED Headlight Conversion - Delta

That’s not what she said.

I tried a similar product 15 years ago in my 68 coronet. The headlight housing lens didn’t fit and i had to cut the car to make them fit. Be prepared for that. Installed they weren’t very bright until I got the alternator spinning good so at low speeds and idle they were not any better than factory. Our cars have a voltage problem not a lightbulb problem.

Fast forward to a couple of months ago when I decided to try again with the leds in my newly aquired 1997 lincoln, because the headlights were very dim compared to what I am used to with my 2021 Tacoma. I was skeptical they would work but they did. That setup you are considering looks like the same setup i used from superbrightled.com for my 97 lincoln, but without the headlight housings that replace your sealed housings. They work awesome in my lincoln, but i did have to use the resisters.

But as I said above I’m not sure leds will solve your problem. Have you considered the headlight conversion from cracked back who is on this forum? He makes and sells plug and play harnesses that change the way your car regulates the voltage to your headlights. I have it installed in my 74 Road Runner. Very high quality stuff and very bright. Installation looks factory professional, and the stock sealed beams shine realy bright. No modifications required to make them fit into you car.

If you decide to go the LED route, the $500 they want for that kit is ridiculous. I did my lincoln for $80 minus the headlight housings. This is what I got from superbright LED. Like I say it works in my lincoln but that car has a more sophisticated charging system than our older cars. I got the headlight conversion wiring harness from cracked back for around $180 IIRC. I highly recommend doing that over the LED. It’s guaranteed to fit and make your headlights brighter. Install takes about an hour. The harness comes plug and play and is guaranteed to work. You dont have to do any wire splicing or modification to your car. The harness can easily be removed if you want to go back to oem if its a number matching car.

Thank you for the feedback and advice. I will check these out. I just recieved all of the other LED lights that I purchased from Superbright also. Can't wait to get back to working on the car to install them.

Yeah. Therefore no high digit units. $119 for 4 or $200+ for one. And they are made in China too. Why the extra expense?
They are very pricey, but I haven't been able to locate any that have the same options, are actually glass lens's not PMMA and that are made in the USA as these supposedley are. Also based on my conversation with the owner and evaluating the dimensions he provided these should fit without any modifications. Thank you for your feedback.

lens's not PMMA
I would go with crackback conversion harness and retain your glass lamps. If thats not bright enough then you can replace the oem headlights with the conversion and still retain the harness. Your electrical system will like the harness too.

I wish you luck. I see by your post count you are a new member. I hope you’re not a one night stand and stick around for breakfast.

Really it comes down to you, and if they will work for what you want from them, price doesn’t matter.

I bought a $100 kit off eBay housings plus LED bulbs. They went right in and look great. I have crackedback’s upgrade harness, but other than that I didn’t have to do anything special. Love them.

Holley Retrobrights. Plug n play, fit perfectly no screwing around... https://www.holley.com/products/lighting/headlights/
I looked at these and when I first started searching I thought these were expensive, until I found the Delta's. I'm not a purist and my car is more of a Retro-Mod, from what I saw Holley doesn't have the Halo / Angel Eyes that I want to put on my car. If you saw something different please let me know. Thanks for the input and taking the time to respond.

Thanks I will check it out. I'm still becoming familiar with the site. I still have about another 4-6 months on this project until it's done (Hopefully)! I'm looking forward to driving it and determining if I can fit another car into the project list :).

My preference for LED headlights was to use the Holley Retro-brights, note there are cheaper options
but many require modifying the headlight mounting bucket to accomodate their depth. The Holley LEDs have a
wide dispersion without the bright hot spots from the OE incadescents. Also LEDs draw about 25% of the
current compared to the OE incadescents so no wire or relay mods are required.
Just my $0.02....
