I have an engine, 440, that i know has been bored out 0.30 over with the exception of 1 cylinder that needed to be 0.60 over due to a scored cylinder, my question is should i take all the cylinders to 0.60 over or leave as is, and what type of running problems may i run into. appreciate the help guys!

Yes, take them all to 60 but has the block been gone through by a machine shop? Have they sonic checked it and mag'ed it? it really depends on the rest of the cylinders and what shape they are in. If the walls are too thin it will just overheat all the time.

If a shop confirms you are in good shape then you can go 60 over all cyc. and go make some power.

You might want to consider putting a sleeve in it.This way if you have .30 over pistons and they are O.K you can re use them thus saving money and you wouldn't have the worries of sonic testing, thin walls and heating up issues.

Well if I was going to bore the block I would absolutely bore all eight the same. The score in the cylinder where is it at? Sometimes the wrist pin or rod will score the cylinder below the zone of the piston rings. Do you know what I mean?

I had the same problem years ago. The machinists recommended sleeving the scored cylinder and boring it to the same size as the others.

never thought of sleeving, going to take it it to a machine shop and have it checked out, thanks guys!

From a mechanical perspective it can be made to run with one cylinder larger than the others and no one will know the difference, but that's pretty cheezy to me. I'd sleeve it rather than taking the rest to .060".
