M&H engine harness

I have an M&H engine harness for my 72 440 727. No instructions and I don’t have an existing harness to follow. Any idea where the black wire with the fork end goes? Thanks!

Were is the harness coming from? Top,middle ,bottom would help.
 
Only two places that use a spade, starter relay or an old style mechanical regulator and 1972 rules that one out!
 
If you have a factory shop manual you should be able to follow the black wire back to the bulkhead plug and the specific bay/slot in the bulkhead and from the FSM wiring diagram identify the function of that particular bay/slot in the bulkhead.

I do have a factory shop manual and I can’t find this wire anywhere! Or at least I can’t locate it. But believe me, I’ve spent days and hours flipping pages and examining. Was hoping someone would have a definitive answer from experience. Thanks!

To which terminal would it connect with? I presumed the battery terminal initially but the fork is slightly smaller gapping that the post. Enough so that I would have to bend it open to fit. Is this correct? Thanks! Trying not to burn down the house while learning/figuring things out.
 
M&H harnesses have extra wires on them. They will fit both Dodge and Plymouth. It could go to something on another car and not yours. I bough a 70 harness for me Bee and it had the wires for the 70 charger lights. Its a harness that fits all.

You can call their tech line and they could tell you. I have done that before.
 
People could help more of you told us what car its for. 72 440 727 isn't good enough. Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Satellite Charger 300 too many options to be vague on the make and model.

Like I said, there is only ONE place that open spade goes on a car, unless a '72 has something unique. M&H uses the wrong colour wire though, it should actually be Brown.

I have no idea where the starter relay is mounted on a '72, but here is the hook up on a '69. U shaped plate with a screw, slip the spade under the plate and tighten the screw.

NOW THAT ALL SAID, your wire looks a lot thinner than the one in my picture. Check that this spaded wire you're trying to hook up goes to the actual starters relay, small stud.

That would be the solenoid terminal. I have that spade connector connected to that plated terminal. I’ll have to call M&H as recommend I reckon. Thanks!
 
Which harness, engine or forward lighting? What is M&H part number? Doesn’t look correct for ’72, appears to be the brake pressure deferential switch wire, wrong terminal, however.
 
The year one version has part number HU237B, the only single black wire coming off the engine harness in '72 is the brake differential switch, has a completely different connector.

Trace the wire back to the bulkhead connector cavity, which one is it? There were no fork connections used on an original ’72 engine harness.
