Made In America Time for a Revolt!

It's sad, I bought new shoes yesterday and could find nothing made here so I just chose to buy NON CHINESE. I try to always buy American but if it isn't available I simply exclude anything Chinese seeing how they are flat out cheating and stealing from us.

Funny, I just took a factory trailer hitch off of my wife's Lexus suv. It has a Made In USA sticker on it.

After the obama reign of terror is over I say we hit the rest button and make the gooberment give incentives only to company's that are willing to have it made here.

Bingo, I've been saying that for years. i don't care which administration(s) allowed the slow exodus to happen, but it's time to bang a u-ee. This an easy fix that will employ millions and millions of people.

Some New Balance Tennis Shoes are made in the USA. You have to pay attention because they shoes made in communist china also. The pair I wear now were made in the USA.

When I am traveling I look at souvenirs If not local I pass on it most are made in China
I do not buy many souvenirs now
I did get a nice line drawing from 4 Corners direct from the artist this spring when I went to EJS in Moab

Time to revive this thread. Here lately I'm finding more and more auto parts made in other places like Mexico or Canada and even Italy....better than made in China I suppose but it's getting harder and harder to find auto parts made in the states. Recently I went to Academy to get a new Old Smokey and didn't see any. Maybe it's too late in the season for them to stock them but they are made in the Houston area so getting one won't be a problem. Besides, grilling around here is a year round thing.

You're right Cranky, getting hard to find things that are North American made.

I was born in the USA and my parents moved back to Canada when I was very young. I feel a strong sense of committment to our countries when I purchase something, it's always a research project before shopping, and it's not always easy to tell due to labelling etc. Let's face it, a lot of American and Canadian made items are forced to add foreign content to stay afloat! The best we can do is support ourselves the best we can.

Like you, if I can't find "Made in Canada or The USA" then I go for Mexico, or Japan or whatever...anything but China. I think that's the only way to take the power from them, although they almost own the planet from a financial perspective. No sense adding to it though!

My list of brands looks like this..
Vehicles- Mopar-Chevy (easy now) 70 GTX, 96 chebby pick me up, 56 Bel Air resto mod project,2 Harley bikes (a lot of the Harley bling and clothing is China now)
Tools- Snap On and SK, Channel Lock and some Craftsman
Shop Equipment- Eagle Compressors, Miller welding machines and gear
Work clothing is Carhart and Red Wing
Home furnishings are Canadel and Durham (Canadian made solid wood)- try to find appliances that are made "on shore" lol
Groceries- I keep it North American- Canadian and American brands- sounds funny, but we buy more of this than big ticket items!

The list goes on I guess, but I do what I can.

Satman... Can't figure out how to add your post quote to this...

You're right, the purchase is about the quality for sure but we have to be willing to pay for it, and maybe have less of it! That's what has led us down this path to begin with!! That, and our governments shoving cheap product under our noses. If they limited the amount imported then part of the issue would be solved, plain and simple. That's part of freedom of choice, but we should take that responsibilty and committ to ourselves, not some other nation.

I prefer Canadian made or American made products over China. It saddened me when I saw a Canadian flag with a made in China tag.

Absolutely!!

But that's the case, most of the time nowadays. My Rotary lift is a good example of this. "Made in the USA", but really "assembled in the USA". Same with "made in Canada" goods. It's a hard pill to swallow when you're trying to support the home effort and find out otherwise.

At least we are giving some of the work to our home workers? I think that it's better than 100% offshore.??

All we can do is make an effort to curb the offshore content, IMHFO....

Ah the good ol' "made in America" . I don't even know where to start.......

I told someone once if you want MADE IS USA start by NOT shopping at stores with the word "mart" in them... but am constantly told " cant afford anything else"
Got a buddy that works in a local machine shop ... if it's 33% made in USA... then they can say "made in USA"

Think SNAP ON is all USA??? Wanna talk to my friends brother in law who makes the deals with INDIA??

Who are the Biggest buys of scrap metal?? China, South Korea and Japan. I see the gondola cars (railroad) heading down to the port every week.

Electronics.... forgetaboutit...........

I just bough a new parklamp for my E body........................... do I have to explain this one????

I could start rankin' on the attitude of many American workers but that another post entirely.

If you took everything out of your house that wasn't American made I'm afraid you'd have bare walls. And in some cases no drywall. Hell the last quarter round I bought for some trim work was from south America (yet I see forests of trees goin in the chipper on construction projects).

Did I post this to bash America?? HELL NO! I've been a small business owner for 30 years. Its time to wake up! Watch what you buy and who you elect....

The truth for sure BIG...
It's a scary situation...I'm not bashing USA or Can...but, as you say, watch who you elect. Keep in mind that the foreign debt is so big, that the leaders have to keep China and the rest of them happy. We're along for the ride, to a large extent, IMHO

Our lifestyles are the best on the planet, and at some point, there are people (and governments) that mean to even the score.

Having said that, we are their biggest customers at this point in time..so we do hold power as consumers. Let's make sure we make informed choices.
