Not really sure where to put this so I guess I'll put it in here. I am putting a Mass-flo EFI system on my 69 Roadrunner. 383 4 speed car. No tag or sheet. I'm not an experienced carb adjustment guy and I want this car to be able to drive anywhere and not have to mess with F/A mixtures at different altitudes.
I picked this system mainly for 3 reasons. First, It was mainly billed as the most "plug and play" system on the market. Second, it supposedly tunes itself as it reads parameters and adjusts the F/A mixture AND the timing, and is sequential port. Third, It is billed as made in the USA and they even admit their system is a little more expensive than others but is first class manufacturing.
I also bought the fuel system that they bundle together for their EFI system so there wouldn't be any compatibility issues.
I received the system in three boxes. Ironically, the fuel system, which really is components not specific to any car, took the longest to arrive.
Overall the upgrade looks pretty basic, the most in-depth part looks to be the installation of the fuel system which has you install an electric fuel pump, braided steel lines, a great big fuel filter and regulator and a return line to the fuel tank which they want as far away from the fuel pick-up as possible to reduce the chance of pumping air.
Also came with the choice of Edelbrock intakes. Either the Victor or Torker. I chose the Torker because it was the lowest and I wanted every opportunity to keep my air grabber. Modification look to may be necessary for the base of the air cleaner. That is a bridge farther up the road.
1. First picture shows the removal of carb, coil, dist, and intake. Prop was right, just like surgury.
2.Shows how tight they had to make the fit to try to keep the runs as straight as possible. Tough to get a wrench in there.
3. Shows the installation of the injectors and the fuel rails.
4. installation of the 4 barrel body capable of 1000 cfm/600 hp so there is room to grow.
5. Shows where I need to figure out a solution for throttle linkage. This is where I left off last night. Next is a trip to the auto parts store. Any suggestions here would be appreciated.

You will have to change from the original throttle cable to the newer style. In this picture this is what i have, im trying to find a new end that connects to the same thing you have in the set up. What i have will work if i drill a new hole in it but the bracket is what i wanted to show you that was bought at a parts store, maybe you could ask about this and the cables that are adjustable. Hope this helps...

I forgot to add that I do not know for a fact this come from a parts store, i was told this. It works fine but you may find something similar that will work for your hook up.. with the new style cables.

Thanks Ron, Yeah I was coming to that conclusion about the new cable. Yes the picture helped. I think I might go with some kind of rod set-up. I seen those throttle ball attachments at the auto parts stores with a threaded end for a rod.

Here is a link and picture of one that may work with the older style.. As far as the bracket goes..for throttle. Im sure they would have about anything to get you started. Sorry pictures blocked view, i didn't see the rod set up but they might have them i imagine.. sorry.

Yup, I just ordered a cable from summit. The return spring will have to come from the front. I may be able to use the mopar set up for that. I guess I will have to see if I can do some other stuff while I'm waiting.

With the gas these days FI is the only way to go. Looks like some nice stuff for sure!

Just curious, do the auto parts places in other parts of the earth have a better selection than mine? I know I live in the boonies but between Napa, Advance and Car Quest, not one of these places had any sort of general throttle parts or brackets. Not even any cables. Is it because of the small market here or do these places just not carry this kind of stuff anymore?

I usually go to Auto-Zone thats the closest at 15 miles. Ive been lucky as one of the guys up there has a 70 RR and knows Mopars, other ones don't know a wiper from a dipstick. But they are not selling some things they didn't have the cable i need as you can see how its all frayed on the throttle, but he did say he could order me one. I just have to go up and order it myself because its a special order and you pay before its sent for. When i go up i could order two if he can get them, he did say he could. If that top one is the one you want i could get it and send it to you no problem. I have no idea on a time line when it comes to AZ, usually within 2 days,, if your interested. Id have to know the length to be on the safe side. If there's one around you (AZ) id try, maybe they could order you one, it would be quicker for ya.

Awesome!!! Looking great Daryn. I agree with Ron on the brackets and cut to fit throttle cables..

Same here on the parts stores. Not that long ago all the stores around here carried carbs, rebuild kits, crate motors, valvetrain...ect...ect.., but now it's press on chrome wheels, stereo junk, glue on wings and neon lights. I guess it goes to show the legacy of people working on their cars fading away....sad

This is why I have a small machine shop!

Ron, Thanks for your offer. that's very nice of you. I did order what I think will work from summit. Guys like you are why I love this web site. Always willing to help.

I had to go south today and spend a day on the road. Almost to my home lair and I see this beat-up old honda car thing, I guess you would call it a civic wagon? Rusty all over and some damage on the drivers side. Coming up behind it I thought it had some sort of deformed luggage rack on top as it was at least 8 inches above the roof. As I got closer, I **** you not, It was a wing or spoiler, whatever you want to call it. Mind you, This was on the ROOF, on the back of the car. with a hatchback!!!! Well, My day was complete. I wish I would have got a picture. BTW, the driver was NOT a kid. Toooo funny

N-P thats why were all here, love this site, to come hear sit back relax and spend some time reading what everyone hear is doing with the same hobby and cars, a little joking, why i like it and the knowledge here the best.. Ok, You say your getting the cable style? ive seen the rod outfit you mentioned before. Obviously the outcome is the same but those rod linkage sure is a eye opener, conversation starter.. I hate to bring up the civic thing but i know all to well about the wing you speak of, your kind! "a wing", I see one all the time with my sons grocery getter, he says there easy on gas... Hes raising his 3 year old daughter alone and doing a great job, so i keep the ridicule down to a minimal, He loves my car and wants another Camaro which i have Or a 70 Challenger and thats his pick, makes me smile keep my mouth shut when i hear the motorcycle with 4 wheels as hes turning in the drive but yep, 27 year old Honda civic guy, hurts, ya know, pains me deep..lol Good luck to ya sir!
