max wedge engine troubles

Might sound stupid but go under the car and check your torque converter bolts.
One or more might have loosened and backed out causing the same noise you're hearing.

X 3 , that has caught me before, converter bolt heads are very close and have had new bolts with a bigger head just touch, good idea.

i tossed a converter bolt out last fall on a over rev. first time for me but you know it when you do it; noisey!

Well bad news. We have determined that the torque converter under a load created to much pressure on the crankshaft and wiped out the thrust bearing. Anyone wanna buy a car? Lol

I'd be digging a little deeper. What happened to the converter causing it move that far so early? Heck the motor was barely broken in. Who's converter? I doubt if you were doing long high rpm holds against the converter in such short milage. Something smells fishy.

TCI converter. Can't say I'm gonna buy another.

I've heard everything from to much line pressure, cooler not big enough, too small of transmission lines, poor converter construction to bad engine to chassis ground. I'm at a loss myself. I guess I'm gonna fix the engine and build a better mouse trap to put behind it. That's if my wife doesn't file for divorce first. She's about fed up with car stuff.

I don't buy line pressure, bad ground, trans lines, or cooler. Converter is a possibility .I'd certainly have it looked at. Call lenny at Ultimate or Kenny Ford at PTC.

Did the converter balloon up ? I have never used TCI but I hear alot of guys say TCI stands for "Total Crap Industries". But like I said I have never used TCI as I only have used Dynamic and Turbo Action and both have worked great for me. Sorry to hear this and good luck with it. Ron

i have had ARP studs screw up the cap alignment on #3 main.
I always check thrust cap clearance anytime I change bolts or studs. Different diameters can require the cap holes to be opened up. I've learned when building an engine as opposed to just assembling and engine every aspect of a replaced part needs to be taken into account. Failure to do so can result in catastrophic failure. This is why I build my own stuff. There is only one person to blame, Me.

x2!

It's all in the timing!

Lets just say 36° is just right and 70° will put holes in your pistons...or so I've heard...

You don't seem as bright as you think you are. Can you go 8.96 @152 mph in a 3387 lb early b body?. I didn't think so.
