MECUM predicts $1 Million + for Hemi Daytona at INDY

1969 Hemis got either dog dishes of full 15" wheel covers. I don't know if the 15"Kelsey Hays recall wheels were available during the Daytona production run.

Recall wheels were not avail by the time the Daytona came about.

They were only avail on about the first 2 or 3 weeks worth of production line

I know of a 1969 hemi gtx and a 1969 sport fury that are original equipment W23 recall wheel cars..

To me if 71 Hemi Cuda convt's are worth in the millions and they're pretty much all fluff and makeup which didn't win any major racing titles a 4 speed, Hemi Daytona is worth in the millions all day long. Hemi E-body coupes won Pro Stock and Hemi Wing cars won NASCAR, to me that's where the historic value is.
I totally agree, but historic significance seems to be only a small fraction of the market price pie. I have always felt that the '66 Hemi Satellite or '67 Hemi GTX should be the top dog based on history alone. Richard Petty's record 27 wins in 1967 with this configuration has never been topped, and you could buy the same basic car off the showroom floor that year. Hasn't happened since.

Wish it were so. But the E bodies have always been top dog . I dont see that changing , ever

The 69 Charger Daytona was the first car to ever break the 200 MPH mark in any form of closed course racing,a record that stood until Bill Elliot broke it in 1984. That is significant!

Sold today for $1,320,000 . . .

Was disappointed with MT TV wait for to be auctioned and they go to commercial and come back no mention of results. Was waiting for 67 GTX Hemi convertible, went Mecum site $11200. Think that's without fees. So much for Haggerty's value guide. -----------

I just posted a thread about a v-code cuda ragtop that the restorer installed a hemi instead.

Just watched the Daytona sell for 1.2 million, & a 72 Demon GSS sold right after it for $150,000.

This was not uncommon as a trip to the Wheel store was the first thing done to these cars.... MOST muscle cars did not keep there " stock " wheels... There was no reason to spend money on a " throw away " item
Did 'em all the time. You wouldn't be caught dead with stock wheels/caps or wheel covers back in the day.

Nobody wanted convertibles, wing cars, 4-doors, or air conditioning when these cars were new. Hell, even power steering was a debatable option.

Anyone know what this 71 Roadrunner sold for? I was kinda liking this car.. You have to be registered to find out, and I am not registered on Mecum.

All my GTXs got switched to Magnum 500s, unless they came that way (two did). Until now. I never owned a Hemi car back in the day, way beyond my means, even when they were somewhat affordable. The only contact I had with them was drooling over the two examples our dealer had on the lot when they were new, and of course they came with dog dish caps and steelies. So now that I have one, I've kept the factory caps in place. That's the memory I'm trying to relive with this car, the way it would have looked when I was a kid fantasizing in the show room.

I love that look. Always have, always will. Your GTX looks like a sleeper with the steelies & dog dishes.

Hegerty uses actual sales results in their figures, including auctions like Mecum.
A few years ago there were two 66 Hemi Satellite convertibles sold both 4 speeds one $132k other $214k with fees. Haggerty had them both in sales chart. What I'm thinking which is more desirable a 66 Hemi Satellite vert or a 67 Hemi GTX vert. Had my car 44 years been thinking about selling.

IMO the 67 GTX will bring more money. PROVIDED all things are equal between the 2 cars. I know who bought the 66 satellite you mention. Its in a very nice collection with some amazing company

That said, I wish I were in a position to do so. But I would love to have your car.
A hemi vert is my dream car, and I dont care what body its wrapped in .
