It's been over 25 years since I tore through the neighborhood in her, but I still remember how I'd be shaking getting out of her after putting her though her paces. I was a kid in a man's car and damn lucky I never did anything too stupid. The guy I bought her from warned me not to get her excited unless I was lined up straight. He'd done an unintentional donut in a crowded parking lot and he'd had enough. He was too afraid of her after that, she had to go. Someone before me had installed hood pins, button start and a slap shifter. She still sits like the day I bought her, except now she's my brother's girl, Direct Connect front plate and "everyone loves a good '69" around the back.
Even though I've got the 440 GTX at home I still miss those young 383 days.
Some day she'll be his sons, or my sons, but she'll always be our girl.
Damn, even in her older age she looks as quick as the day I drug her home.
She gets lots of attention on the road too, even on the back of a trailer.
