Mopar 440 forged or cast crank and balancer

Hello, my name is Eric and I drive a 1971 Jensen Interceptor with a nice Chrysler 440 and a 727a torqueflite gear box.
I hope you can help me. In this moment the gearbox gets refreshed and we have problems with the right torque converter. I don’t know that I have a forged or cast crank.
On the block on top there is stamped:
D 440
I1 27 HP2
I think the engine ist not original. The cast date is 1967.
the balancer has the asymmetrical holes. I have some but not good pictures when the engine gets refreshed. Probably you can help me.In this moment the engine is in the car.

Top picture sure looks like a forged steel crank to me. I think you have a 67 block casting that was installed in a 69 car (the D 440) I may be wrong about that, others here can correct me.
But if it is a 69, it should have a steel crank in it, with a neutral balancer and flywheel/converter.
 
Looks like a 68 440hp with steel crank and internal balance. Makes life easy to order parts. I like Jensen's...a buddy owns a few
 
I agree, 68 HP with a forged crank, internal balanced. Nice! So torque converter will be neutral balanced as well.

Thanks a lot for so many fast answers. Hoped to hear this. I have one more question. Are you sure that at the picture the crank looks like or only at the stamps, sorry for this question but I don’t know there is the original crank in it?

Oh well. I had it as a 68 originally, then asked Google, who said D was 69. I'm an idiot, I *** u me (d) Google was right. My bad.
Google is usually pretty good, but I say trusting Google is like trusting the government to treat everyone good. Just double check.:rolleyes:

Hello, sorry to ask again. Could you see it at the picture of the engine or with the stamps/punch? Unfortunately I don’t know that there is the original crank on it.

If that is a pic of your motor, then that is a forged crank. The counterweight on a forged bbm crank are very rounded edges. Counterweight on a cast crank are comparatively sharp.
I can't really see the parting lines on the cheeks of the rod throws to tell FOR SURE, but I'm 95% confident that is a forged, neutral balance crank.
I have no clue about numbers or stampings on the crank.... unless it's an aftermarket piece..... which yours isnt.

If you pull the crankshaft out, stand it on end and tap it with a metal screwdriver. It should ring like a bell.
 
Assuming the engine was balanced before and didn't vibrate, you have a forged crank balancer, so, the crank should be forged too. Looks forged in your last photos. Your old torque converter shouldn't have had any weights welded to it. If it didn't, another indication your crank is forged.
 
Yup cast cracks have weights welded on the converter. No weights it’s forged.
