Mopar bretheren think alike?

All? Well maybe not ALL.....
Stereotypes are offensive to those in the spotlight, but lets admit that there are certain traits that DO follow certain groups.
Lets not let this thread go off track. I have found that a strong majority of Mopar people do lean to the Republican side of politics. I have seen it in several forums. I have seen it in car clubs. It is the case with my friends, and I live in CALIFORNIA!
I have no problem talking politics with a Liberal as long as they keep insults out of the discussion. Most if not all Liberals resort to personal attacks once their talking points are proven wrong.
My mom remarried after Dad passed. This guy is basically a decent person but he LOVES to talk politics. He is a flaming Liberal and talks out of his *** regarding politics. He pays no attention to facts or reason. When his arguements are disproven, he changes the subject. There really is no chance of reaching a mutual understanding with him. The only way to get along with him is to not let myself get drawn in to a political trap. Sad, but at 73, He is less mature than I am at 47.

I'm a Conservative, elected member of my local republican party executive committee, and have served on our local city zoning board for eight years.

At 50, even with my long service to the local Republican Party, I'm concerned with the level of negative rhetoric coming from both sides. Nothing wrong with talking about what's important to you as long as you're respectfully tolerant of differing opinions.

It doesn't make you any less conservative o be respectful and its what the founding fathers intended..... Tolerant acceptance of even the stupidest liberal opinions and the diversity which makes us all uniquely Americans.

I think that, over the last several election cycles, both sides are trying to motivate through inflammatory, stupid rhetoric looking for the biggest motivational fear button to push and the political discussions have deteriorated to the continuation of heated campaign stump speeches too long after an election has decided the issue.

I love the passion of the tea party but dislike intensely the very few extreme elements that nobody calls out for just being and saying stupid things which the media twists into generalities about all conservatives.

I love Fox News but even they make me cringe when they go too far. Met Sean Hannity and think OReilly gets it right most of the time. I don't like needless bureaucracies and think the legitimate role of government should be only those things that we can not do as individuals...interstates, defense, national parks, trade and commerce regs etc...

I make my kids work for their extras and let them fail when that's what they need to do to learn the importance of consequences.

And

I love Mopars

Here we go: All Democrats are liberal. All Republicans are conservative. All the Democrats are trying to get all the Republicans' money and give it away. All Blacks are lazy. All Asians are poor drivers. All 7-11s are owned by East Indians and all taxi drivers are Middle Eastern. Got anymore blankets to throw over groups of people? Hope I didn't miss any... Geez.

Here it is. Read it. This is how some Liberals play it. Culture, then the race card. A smoke screen. No issues or facts. No posts said any of this.

isn't there a place on this site just for political talk?

I come on here for b-body mopars & light-hearted chat. Exception being when someone is having a bad time & asks for thoughts & prayers.

Sonny sometimes will watch FOX NEWS to get the "rest of the story"

also, many traditionalist conservatives, including Americans defend Capitalism.
I do too.

I have friends that are dems, BUT they also agree with a lot of my views:icon_silent:....
.....and Mopars!

X2 on that Sonny! I think anyone that has the determination to work on these old Mopars isn't afraid of hard work and isn't looking for a government handout.

Well said and is pretty much the way I feel too...

Hee hee. I'm one of the few "liberals" on here. I'm not even going to get into all the silly stereotypes that most spout on here... except to say that if you want to put everyone in a box of "lazy, wants to take everyone's money away, can't work on cars themselves, etc" I and many others will poke holes in your generalizations. I really don't understand why people who claim to be patriotic and love this country also tend to classify half of it as people they can't stand. We're all Americans here, and having different views, opinions, backgrounds is a huge reason why this country is the best on the planet.

Just to clarify- I am college educated, tend to vote Dem (although I voted for Ahhnold :) ) am socially "liberal" but lean libertarian on drugs, foreign policy, privacy. And I can't get enough of MOPAR muscle. See you out on the road!

No offense but, if you don't like these type of honest threads/discussions... Then don't read or reply to these type threads... easy peasy

Yeah, Budnick usually gets it right and I totally agree with everything he said. I became active after having kids and must say sometimes I wish I didn't "the things I've learned make me sick". The way I see it is the Republican party is the new Democratic party and the Democratic party is now the Communist party, there is no Conservative party only a few Conservatives.

I tend to agree, for the most part the so called Conservatives or Tea Party of today, would be the Democrats of the early 60's, anti establishment crowd, much like J.F.Kennedy was, it seems the roles have 180* flipped, some don't see it or want to admit it, the Democrats party has been taken over by the Socialist Progressives for larger more abtrusive over burdening Large Govt. entities AKA "Big Brother" type mentality... there is no real "Old" Democratic Party anymore, just the Inner-city party socialist Chicago type politics IMHFO anyway, I'm sure opinions will vary vastly... my $0.02 cents, well maybe like $0.06 cents now...

I don't need a title of Democrat , Republican or Conservative... I blame them all for where we are today...We didn’t get here all in one jump.  I’m tired of the same old same old in our politics.

Liberty will not descend to people.....A people must raise themselves to liberty........

Winston Churchill said,
“If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival.  There may be a worse case.  You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

well said Pops, I like that part of Churchill's quote...

Funny that your the only one talking about races or groups of people. I don't put a blanket on any group "just behavior". When I speak of liberals I'm referring to the self proclaimed liberal politicians and the direction that they are leading us in. Hears something I'd love to hear from a liberal, what is your definition of being liberal? I don't mean any disrespect, I'm just honestly curious and think that your definition probably won't match what most of us view as a liberal. Since I'm asking you I feel I should give what I believe to be the definition of being conservative, strong belief in the constitution (the way it is written not interpreted), smaller government, more freedom, guns for everyone (except criminals), a government that is governed by the people not politicians and honesty (something you'll not find in this administration). Sorry guys, I didn't mean to start a political discussion outside of the political forum, I was just bored and curious not to mention I avoid the political forum every since they said no religious talk (we're founded on it).

Budnicks for prez!!!!! I agree with him on all points well said!!!

Sorry if you felt you were in that group but I doubt you are someone I'd call an all out liberal or lazey "maybe confused" Haha. The people I can't stand are the ones that are first in line to collect the money and benefits that they are unwilling to work for and the politicians that encourage it and yes that means I don't like a lot of people.

Thanks for the support...LOL.. But unfortunately, I think I may have a few too many, Political nails in my coffin/past or too many Skeletons in my closet, with my family, to ever run for any political office of that stature, after all I was a product of the 70's, many of them were rebels in the 50's & 80's to even the 90's, hell even back to the 1850's when my great/great Grand father John Joseph U-- got off a German Shipping boat in St. Louis & they left him here or my Norwegian great/great Grand mothers Augustus May F-- Russian settlers ties in Northern Calif. & Southern Oregon coasts & Klamath Falls in the 1850's... But Hell - Maybe not, the POTUS was a self proclaimed, drug user, dope smoker, also he always cut school, never went to most of High school classes, never played organized sports, just street Basketball only when he was supposed to be going to school, also he was the head of a Socialist Progressive Anarchist Radical Leftist Extremist Group & he got into Harvard Law school with that record, let alone - hell he even has radical treasonous/bomber & terrorist ties, he was only ever a community organizer, but never held a real job, never in the private sector, he even worked as a pro-gratis Lawyer for ACORN even {Remember those idiots} & he didn't release any of his school transcripts even, before he ran for any office & he got elected to Ill. Senator & then to US President... Hell it seems like {or I actually know} my past history isn't even anywhere near as bad or torrid as his is...LOL... Hell-Maybe there is a shot...LOL, yeah right.... But I doubt I would ever run & put my family thru all the scrutiny & media BS, since I'm by far not a Liberal, they would crucify my family.... But I do have a ligament Concord Calif. & Born in the USA 1959 Birth Certificate too... sorry guys I couldn't resist... it was teed up I had to hit it...

Confused... you need to read some of his old posts in the political forum, if you already haven't, especially the ones while the 2012 Pres. Election was going on, you will see exactly where he stands politically aliened...

I honestly don't vote and don't care who is in office at all ...In the end Ill still wake up tomorrow and still pay taxes don't really care to listen to politicians empty promises about taxes and the like so I don't both to waste my time

I've been a Mopar guy since my first car, a 1976 Aspen I bought in '78. My Dad owned nothing but Mopars except for one Chebbie. My grandfathers on both sides drove Mopars. I'm not one of those rich guys who write a check and get their car done by a custom garage, I do just about all my work by myself or with some help from buds and my brother. I've worked for what I have. I graduated college debt free with money in the bank 'cause when I wasn't in school, I was working. I got ahead by working hard and working smart. If I can't pay for it, I don't buy it. I own multiple firearms. I fly my American flag on Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, and 4th of July. I am also a Liberal, and proud of it. I'm not a registered Democrat - I don't agree with everything they do. I don't want to take from the rich, I just want them to pay the same percentage of taxes as me. I think it sucks when corporate farms are getting big tax breaks from the gov't when gov't-funded programs to feed kids are being cut. I think it sucks when bankers and CEO salaries/bonuses jump every year when us middle class guys barely break even after inflation. Yes, it sucks when our Congress get a cushy retirement nobody else gets.

If you work & especially pay income taxes or property taxes, out of your hard earned money, you should be concerned & vote, it's one of those great rights as a citizen on the USA, that we have to keep a check on our politicians either side of the isle R/I/D, it's really our only voice we have anymore, the media & unions are now bought & paid for, by political parties or has their own selfish agenda/Ideology now, it's really the only recourse, that we have anymore, no matter how meager or petty some think it may be, to stop the growth & tyranny of over burdening State & Federal Govt. control... Even if it's only every 2 or 4 years at a time.... Sorry if that offends anyone, it's not intended to, but it's honestly my deepest beliefs/rights as a citizen of the USA to act on them, especially Vote at the local & state level if nothing else...
