update on the composite gear,
after another 5 hours of run time going to and from local car shows with some higher rpm blasts on back country roads shows a little more wear, hopefully its just mating itself to the cam teeth i think. its pretty tough though. if this was a bronze gear it would be more than half worn away or worse. i did smooth the edges on the cam but did not use a jewelers file on the face of the teeth, which i should have done since there r a couple of teeth that show a little more wear than others across the face of the composite gear....its due to factory machining marks that r still rough.
i found a thread from others who really get into it for dressing the teeth for longevity , they r using a Jewelers file on the face of the teeth.. i added a link for it. i'm good thru this year but i mite pull the cam over winter and finish the smoothing job...the before pics r a few responses back in this thread. these pics r from today....
in the end this gear is Good ! and cheaper than milodon brass units by appx 50.00 just by pressing them on and off,,,BTW the 440source and hughes units have more Play in them than the milodon at the distributor shaft notch. Your timing will fluctuate more with them..
todays pics r from appx 10+ hours of run time on a cam that is Hostile towards bronze gears,,,Comp cams.
